Merry 1st Christmas Layout

MERRY CHRISTMAS DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I designed this Christmas layout for a client this past week using Cricut carts - Quilted Christmas and Phrases. The cardstock was designed by Recollections (via Core'dinations). The  white "1st" are by thickers and the tree and gifts are by Jolee's. The jounraling spot was stamped with the Christmas Memories stamp by Hampton Art with green grass chalk ink.

I love the title cut from Phrases. It has 4 layers. I used a combination of American Crafts foil cardstock, DCWV and Bazzill. The red is from my stash. The Recollections/Core'dinations cardstock was sanded to reveal the design. I especially love the whitewashed cadstock that shows the candycanes. I though that cardstock would be wodnerful as photo mats.

I had some significant problems with dust from the sanding. It seemed that I could not rid myself of the dust no matter how much I brushed the layout. I did not enjoy getting dusty every time I touched it (even days later). If anyone has tips please type them in the comments section. Thanks!

The very best part of this layout is the Santa from Quilt Christmas. I went with a vintage santa with the fancy coat. Here's a closer look. American crafts foil cardstock in black and red give this santa his shimmer and shine.

  1. I was really hoping someone would chime in about the dust issue! I love the look of the sandable embellished papers but I hate the dust that the sanding creates and leaves on everything! I've even added all of those sheets of cardstock to my 'donate' bin and removed them several times. I just can't get rid of them because I love the way they look in projects but I haven't used them in anything since the last layout that got dust all throughout the album it was added to. (Yes, I used a full page protector on it but that didn't keep the microscopic dust from migrating all through the pages and making the page protectors look fuzzy.)
Hopefully, someone will offer an idea and it would be lovely if you shared in on your blog!
Beautiful layouts! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you!

    1. OMG Katherine!! Thank you. I thought I was going crazy. I thought I should be able to get this dust off but couldn't no matter how I try. I put it up on a FB group I belong to and a crafting buddy suggested using an old cotton t-shirt. I'm going to try it next time. Thanks for your compliments on my layouts! Makes my heart sing.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and happy crafting! Let me know if you're blogging. I'd love to follow you.
