Adrieel's Photo Shoot

This week my nephew Adrieel had his first professional photo shoot! Everyone loved him in his sailor suit and nautical socks. He is 5.5 months old here and is showing signs on scooting (using his toes and his face to navigate) which is pure joy for my sister to watch.

I am in charge of creating his scrapbook (of course) so I decided to enter some challenges while doing it! The DCWV June Stack-a-holic challenge asks to use one stack to complete a scrapbook page and to follow a provided sketch.  About a Boy June 15th challenge asks us to create a scrapbook page about a male in our lives using circles. The marriage between the two is my page!

Here is the sketch I was given to work with. As you can see I followed it in a literal way this time around. Using 6 designs and the embellishment sheet the DCWV My Sunshine Stack from Jo-Ann Fabrics and a few simple embellishments I was able to showcase one of Adrieel's top 10 memories for 2013.

Additional supplies include: sun kissed die cut from The Paper Loft, Summer Shapes, Jolee's Boutique for the beach balls and felt sun, SEI Grandpa's Attic cardstock alphabet stickers, The Paper Studio 1" circle punch and a Copic Spica at You glitter pen for the hand stitching.

Challenges:
DCWV June Stack-a-holic Template Challenge
About A boy - Going in Circles
Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes
CAS-ual Fridays - Hunger Games: use at least one arrow

2 Peas in a Pod - Diaper Cake and Cupcake Pics

Baby showers are my best business these days! I love it! I crafted a diaper cake and matching cupcake picks for a shower for twins next month. The theme is 2 peas in a pod. I love this color palate for babies. Don't you? Believe it or not, I have had people think my diaper cakes are real cakes, LOL. When I am carrying it, they always offer to help and look really worried that it might fall over. I guess that means they look as good as a real one. I'm smiling from ear to ear!

This three tiered diaper cake is accented with ribbon from hobby lobby and a topper that matched the cupcake pics.

   Diaper cake -
  • 100 diapers
  • Sheer ribbon, decorative ribbon
  • cake support
  • Terrifically Tacky Tape, Scotch ATG, Xyron
   Topper -
  • pastel green oval  - cut at 5.5" from Cricut Cart Just Because Cards (stencil-S pg 40, key 17) - Recollections cardstock
  • scalloped oval - 7" from Cricut Cart Create a Critter (phrase-S pg. 60) - Bazzill cardstock
  • peas  - 10.6" from Cricut Imagine Cart Nursery Tails - Bazzill Basics white cardstock
  • 2 - cut at 2" from Cricut Cart American Alphabet - DCWV glitter cardstock
  • Terrifically Tacky Tape, Scotch ATG, Xyron

Cupcake Picks

I designed these picks with my Cricut Imagine machine. For some reason it would not cut the small peas icons after it expertly printed 30 images. I had to fussy cut each one out. I was HOT!!! But the Elizabeth crafts spring action fussy cut scissors really made the process painless. I have tendinitis in my hands and can't usually do all that maneuvering with scissors. I need to call Provo Craft to get the advanced calibration directions.

30 Cupcake picks -
  • blue toothpicks
  • Jolee's Boutique - White icing dots
  • Clear and Simple Stamps hybrid ink - Espresso your style
  • Stampin' Up Occasions Alphabet
  • pastel green oval  - cut at 1.25" from Cricut Cart Just Because Cards (stencil-S pg 40, key 17) - Recollections cardstock
  • scalloped oval - 1.50" from Cricut Cart Create a Critter (phrase-S pg. 60) - Bazzill cardstock
  • peas  - 2.0" from Cricut Imagine Cart Nursery Tails - Bazzill Basics white cardstock
  • 2 - cut at 0.5" from Cricut Cart Cricut Alphabet - DCWV glitter cardstock
  • Terrifically Tacky Tape, Scotch ATG, Xyron

Vroom, Vroom.... Jungle Diaper Bike

Last week I created this Jungle themed diaper bike and cupcake pics for a client. To see the cupcake pics click here.  In the past, I have made 2 wheeled diaper bikes so this time I wanted to make a tricycle. I love how it came out!!

The bike was used at the shower as a centerpiece. It really accented the party decor well!

Supplies:
  • 50 size 1 diapers - 15 diapers on the outside, 2-3 diapers in the middle. Note: there needs to be space for the blankets to pass through without it being too tight or too loose.
  • Decorative wired ribbon
  • 1 pair of socks
  • 3 receiving blankets
  • 1 bottle
  • 2 bibs
  • 1 rubber band
  • 1 toilet paper roll
  • Cake support

To carry through the Jungle theme, I used jungle blankets, socks, a bottle and stuffed animals.

I can create custom diaper bikes and cakes for your event! Order yours today!

Happy Birthday USA for Get Inky! Stamps Challenge Blog

Are you ready for another Get Inky! Stamps challenge? This time it's a Red, White and Blue challenge! For more info and to enter your project click the link above and show me what 'cha got!!!

There's lots of great things happening too! You can enter to be a guest designer, enjoy the chance to win free digi and physical stamps as the followers grow and the new Etsy store is open! Visit the Get Inky! stamps blog for a free shipping code, the fan page for a discount code and Etsy for the sale of all sales - HALF price digis! It's amazing!!

I was inspired to make a patriotic project with red, white and blue! It is America's bday coming up so I thought I would make a card for the land that I love using the Buzzing Bees stamp set. It's an amazing value with over 50 stamps in the set!! I stamped and hand cut my own waving banner, (reminded me of the flag) from a scrap of red linen cardstock, using the Happy Birthday stamp. I also used TPC Studio Clearly Better ink in Navy. It's made for clear stamps specifically.

The card base is from JoAnn's essentials line. I just had to try out this holographic cardstock from my stash. I think I got it from a company called Stamp On it. I cannot seem to find the product name. But it's got amazing glitter action going on!! See how it looks quite different as you re-position the card? Don't cha just LOVE it!!

I like optical illusions. The border is actually made with the Martha Stewart cherry blossoms punch. I thought it looked like some wonky stars. With the bling strips (by Recollections) covering the hole in the flower they look even more like stars.

Finally, I always pick up items on clearance not knowing what I will use them for. The USA circle graphic is for making a button to wear on your shirt. The kit came with several holidays. When I went to my summer section of my ScrapRack, lo and behold I saw it. It was too small to color with Copics (it was bleeding all over the place) so I grabbed something I have never colored with before until now - Copic at You Spica glitter pens!!1 You have to try it. This picture doesn't do it justice. The coloring is so glittery.

I hope to see your creation in the challenge!! You've got 2 weeks to enter. It's a judged challenge (winners are not randomly chosen) Good luck!!!

Challenges:
Created with Love Challenges - CWLC 74 Red, White and Blue
'ABC' Challenges - ABC 34 - Red, White and Blue
Stampin Dragon - Anything goes
Creative Inspirations Paint - Red, White, Blue

Jungle Baby Shower Cupcake Picks

I love making cupcake picks! It's a hot seller for me right now - especially for baby showers and birthdays. These are for a jungle themed baby shower and I love how they came out. If you haven't tried to dress up your cupcakes, give it a whirl. It makes any occasion so much more festive!

A few tips and tricks for you... I usually create tiny die cuts to adorn my cupcake pics but I recently started using stickers. The DCWV Animal Crackers stack came with a page of glittered stickers (and a page of die cuts) in the front of the stack. It was very convenient to use coordinating stickers to bring together this look. When the stickers were too large to fit, I used a 1.5" Marvy punch to punch out just a portion of the image.

Inking the edges (sometimes with a similar color, others with an opposite color) helped to create dimension. I always add extra adhesive, Terrifically Tacky tape, to my stickers. They never seem to be sticky enough and it may not adhere to certain surfaces. Better safe than sorry! I also use the Terrifically Tacky tape between the layers of the double sided cupcake pick and to hold the toothpick in place. This particular stamp said B is for boy but since this baby shower is for twins, I added the "s" with my Copic multiliner.

Supplies:
  • DCWV Animal Crackers stack - stickers and blue glitter leaf card stock
  • Creative Memories - Yellow patterned paper
  • Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Salty Ocean, Clear and Simple Stamps - Espresso Your Style
  • Stamp: Recollections - Bouncing Baby Boy
  • Copic Multiliner .3 brown
  • Adhesives: Terrifically Tacky Tape, Xyron
  • Party Picks - colored wooden toothpicks
  • Punches: Martha Stewart scalloped circle layering punch, Marvy 1.5" and 2" punches

Challenges:
Great Impressions - Add some sparkle
