DCWV card featuring a Stickles-covered Sophie Cricut Cart Die-cut

This post is quick and dirty! I'm back on my Cricut kick! This A2 CAS (clean and simple) card features a DCWV (Die Cuts with a View) card base from their Vintage Collector series and a die cut from the Sophie Cricut cartridge layered with Stickles. I decided to leave the inside blank. Having beautiful blank cards on hand is essential. It's been a long while since I used these supplies and techniques. It was so fun to do a throw-back.

Pink Butterfly 70th Bday Guest Book

Last post I shared the butterfly invitation I was hired to make. The order also included a matching guest book. Everything on the market was related to weddings or was too child-like. I was glad to create a one-of-kind masterpiece for this special event!

Supplies:

• DCWV Chipboard
• The Paper Studio - pink and cream card stock, bling
• Staples - acid free inkjet paper cream
• Psst Sheer shimmer spritz - Sparkle
• Cricut cart Sophie - 7" for the printed layer, 7.25" for the butterfly
• Alphas - stash
• We R Memory Keepers sweetheart distress tool
• 9" Xyron
• crop-a-file big bite

I'm not sure why the picture doesn't show solid lines but they are solid in person. Every paper was filled with lines for guests to fill in their names and addresses. My large Xyron was instrumental is assembling this guestbook. I was able to make each layer into a sticker.

These dimensional alphas from my stash worked best for the cover and although they already were on foam adhesive, I added glossy accents to ensure they stayed put.

Pink Butterfly 70th Bday Invitation

Guess what? I've been dying to show you this, but it was my first client project of the year and it was top secret!! Now that the wonderful event has passed I can share this beautiful butterfly invitation. My best friend hired me to make 80 invitations for a surprise 70th bday party she was throwing for her beloved mom. I was tickled pink to say the least! Her mom LOVES butterflies so I went to my go to Cricut cart for that - Sophie!

Both the pink and cream cardstock are from The Paper Studio at Hobby Lobby. The iridescent gems also are from The Paper Studio.

I laid out the text in word and printed on cream ink jet paper (acid free) from Staples before cutting the layer to this invite on my Cricut E2. Using settings of blade 1, speed 1, pressure 2 and no multi cut worked best. I must have ripped 100 before figuring that one out, LOL. It was important to cut the top portion of the text with the butterfly shape upside-down to make sure it reads correctly once the invite is open.

The shimmer on the outside of the invite was creating by spritzing with "Sparkle" Psst! Sheer Shimmer Spritz by Tsukineko. It works best to spritz from about 8 inches above your project. I laid as many out on my kitchen table as possible (kraft wrapping paper covered the table) and spritzed away!

Easter Cards - Religious for the troops

 

Here's the last of the cards for the troops. All the card bases are cut using Cricut Cartridge Sophie and large floral paper that looks stunning die cut (but would've stayed in my stash forever because I wouldn't have used it.) I used the text inserts from The Paper Cut for the inside of each card.

 

First I stamped the Blessings stamp (Michaels crafts 25 cents) but it needed something more. I had a Stampin' Up! stamp that says Easter Wishes on my table. Using the masking technique I was able to stamp just the word Easter. Using a clear block helped with placement. The top inside stamp is from Micheals as well. The verse is from Stamp La Jolla.

I decided to switch it up this time and place the verse on the outside and a stamp I use at Christmas time for the inside.... It's true...Jesus is the reason for the season since he died on the cross for our sins. Amen.

Action Wobble Chocolate Easter Bunny Card

What? You've been waiting for another clip from the CLDU vault? Wait no longer... if you'd like to see the bunny wobble and hear my voice watch the quick ditty above.

Making projects for charity is a great stress reliever and it's an excellent way to try new techniques and whittle down your stash. I was able to off load some things that I never thought I could use and just couldn't throw away (can I get a witness?!). This card base was from a class. I never finished the card and now it has a new home and purpose!

The stamp is from Stampin' Up! in a set called Eat Chocolate. I thought it was so fitting for an Easter card with a chocolate bunny on the front. The ink is from Clear and Simple Stamps - Espresso Your style hybrid ink.

I was so hungry I took a bite out of this card LOL. Naw, this cut is available on Cricut Cartridge Easter 2010. I cut the bunny from DCWV or Bazzill brown cardstock (sue me...I can't remember). The red bow is American Crafts foil cardstock. The card based were cut from cardstock donated to me from a crafty friend. It's from a variety of name brands such as Basic Grey. There is a delicate border cut on the edge of each card using the Sophie Cricut cartridge. An action wobble is what makes the magic happen with you touch or flip the bunny. So much fun! Hope the troops and their familes love it as much as I do!

Religious Easter Cards for the Troops

 

I'm back with two more card styles from the 52 I donated to Humble Hearts for Hope for the troops. These two cards were cut from one of my all-time fav Cricut Cartridges - Sophie. It was offered to members of the Cricut Circle last year. There are so many beautiful cards on this cart that I wanted to jump for joy!

 

The first card is smaller than A2. The front window is cut out so I created a base from DCWV white dotted cardstock. The stamp is from Michaels crafts for 25 cents!! Inside I used a stamp from Stampabilities. Ink: Espresso your style, Clear & Simple Stamps.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For this second Sophie card, (A2 size) I decided to use the stampabilities card on the front. I hand cut the inside layer from beige cardstock from my stash. The inside was stamped with 2 different stamps. the cross with the swirls was another 25 cents stamp from Michaels crafts. The verse is from Stamp La Jolla.

 

 

CRAFTY TIP: paper that is not your style in its original form may look better die cut as a decorative card or embellishment. In this case, the cardstock I used for these cards was donated to me by a good crafty friend. It was 12x12 watercolored type cardstock with one huge flower on it. Although I wouldn't have had a use for it in it's original form, it really makes for a pretty card front and back. The flower and pattern covers the back of the card as well.

Sandy Hook Ele. Snowflakes (post 4)

Happy Birthday to my 8 year old daughter Zora!!

 

 

Here are the final Sandy Hook Ele. snowflakes. Together with my past 3 posts they show a complete set. I'm hoping these flakes bring them joy.

 

This set of snowflakes really made great templates (masks) once it was cut out using the fit to page function. Now I can use chalk, spray ink, ink pads etc. to create this snowflake pattern on 12x12 paper for a layout. I'm going to do it too. You'll see my post later in the month. I'm determined to try every tool and concept I have in my craft room this year. You wouldn't believe what I've had for 2 or 3 years and have never even opened. Anyhoo, I digress...

Happily Ever After card

This card is specifically for wedding or anniversary. I designed it for a local spa, Amare Hair Salon! Whoop whoop! Sooooo happy about that! The public is enjoying my craftiness!

The Bazzill card base is cut from the Cricut Cartridge Sophie. I love this flower card and embellishing it with recollections bling. I can't seem to make it any other way, LOL! The floral layer is from my stash (I think it's from the SEI Poppy stack but don't quote me).

The top note was cut in my cuttlebug but is by Quikcuts. I inked the layers and stamped with Clear and Simple Stamps - simply bluetiful. The cute Happily Ever After stamp is from Recollections just married set.

This stamp is from Stampin' Up! Full of life set. I love when a card comes together so seamlessly!!

Gratitude is an action word

Here's another card from the ones I created especially for Amare Hair Salon, a local spa. The card base was cut from my stash with the Cricut Cartridge Sophie. I love how the cut outs reveal a complimentary solid color underneath. The green layer is Bazzill. I inked it with ranger distresed ink - Forest moss - to set it apart from the printed cardstock. The sentiment is from Inkadinkado thankful for everything clear stamp set stamped in black Archival Ink.

Inside the stamp is from My Pink Stamper everyday sentiments - a fav go to for my thank you cards. When a card is busy on the outside I like it to be nice and calm on the inside. This really is a great example of that craft style.

Fancy Rose Thank You card

By far, the Cricut Cartridge Sophie is one of my favs for cards. This is one of my all time fav cards because of the beautiful rose trim. Coupled with the dotted Bazzil cardstock it creates a combination I really love. The striped cardstock is from my stash.

The stamp is from Inkadinkado thankful for everything clear stamp set. I love love love it! Using Ranger Archival ink in black really made it stand out. The black glitter domes are from Crystal Stickers.

 

The inside has a sentiment from My Pink Stamper everyday sentiments clear stamp set. I'm sure this one will go fast at Amare Hair Salon, the local spa that commissioned me to make cards. Yeah!

Floral Get Well card

This my favorite card of the bunch I created for a local spa - Amare Hair Salon. It's a get well card that I was inspired to make based on the scraps that were on my table. The card was cut long ago from the Cricut Cartridge Sophie, The floral layer is from SEI Poppy Paper Stack and the dotted red cardstock in from Bazzill. I am in love with the small edge punchers from EK Success.

The sentiment on the outside and inside are from The Stamps of Life Umbrella4You. The "..." came from Clear and Simple Stamps.

Happy Mother's Day

As you may know, I love the Sophie Cricut cart. This is one of the card bases I keep cut in abundance! That way, if I need to make a quick card I can whip it out and spend more time on the creative aspects. This card was very simply designed by adding dimensional stickers and stamping. The bling and pearl sticker (yes it's huge) is from K and Company Elegance line. It was a little hard to maneuver and place because it is wiggly. I ended up having to cut a portion off (the overhang) once the sticker was placed. But as you can see, if I didn't tell you, you wouldn't have noticed!

I also decided to add a couple of dimensional layered flowers by EK Success just to lessen the blank space on the card. There are clear and colored layers to the flowers (which I couldn't capture with my camera unfortunately). I then stamped a casual happy mom's day that I got from the $1 bin at Micheal's with Ranger Archival ink. The next time you need a quick card, consider adding large statement stickers as your main element!

NSD Something old, Something new Challenge

The Cricut Circle has been hosting National Scrapbook Day challenges all week. I was out of town, so I am entering work I made today in hopes to win some new products! This challenge asks us to create a project using an older Cricut cart and a newer one. The project must include at least 2 Cricut cuts and the prize is a 5 pack of Cricut carts (that I do not yet have!!) So excited!

All the cardstock used is from Bazzill. The old Cricut Cart I used is called My Community and the  plaid ribbon was cut at 4". The rick-rack edge and the decorative edged card was cut from a newer Cricut cart called Sophie. I embellished the ribbon with a fabric flower from K and Company and bling from my stash. I also added bling to the decorative edge of the card. This is one of my fav Sophie cards.

I think I am going to use this as a congrats card for a friend. Wish me luck!

NSD Recipe Challenge - Cricut Circle

The challenge: 3 cricut cuts, 3 patterened papers, butterfly bird or bug, stitching (pen, hand, etc.), color yellow.

The Prize: a NEW cricut cart - Tags, bags, boxes & more 2, cricut gel pens, cricut scoring pens & housing

The 3 cricut cuts - I love using left over cuts. For example, the circle is the center of a frame I cut out from Wild Cards cart, the birds are cut from the Sophie cart from a card that cut out the shapes of the birds at the bottom of a card. I print and cut the happy birthday from the Lori's Garden cart. All the elements are raised on Zots 3D glue dots.

The 3 patterned papers: are from 3 different Martha Stewart mat pads and the pen stitiching was made with my zig brown pen. The yellow card is from DCWV.

I'm luck #37. Wish me luck!

Happy Mother's Day 2012

This one is a 2-for...I made this card yesterday for Mother's Day and for the NSD Crop: Art Inspiration challenge hosted by the Cricut Circle. The prize is a Cuttlebug and 2 embossing folders. The winner will be chosen at random. I am lucky #28! Wish me luck! I have included the art provided for the challenge below. I chose to focus on the colors, butterflies and flower as my inspiration for this original creation.

This card is for my Godmother who has been in my life from birth. I wanted to make a very special card to thank her for her presence in my life. This is one of my fav card cuts from the Sophie cart. The layers were cut from stock images in the Cricut Expression 2. I love adding bling to the butterflies. I combined the tulle flowers from K and Company with Pebbles to create unique embellishments.
