Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Challenge 13

Yay!! It's another anything goes challenge at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends! As a member of the Design Team it's my job to present the challenge to you and entice you to come join in during the next two weeks! So here's a sneak peek at my creation.

I hope you'll pop over to the blog and check out the new logos and blog design and all the talent over there from my fellow DT members. There's three great sponsors and prizes for the top 3 winners.
A Day for Daisies - Prize - $12 Gift Certificate

Bugaboo Stamps - Prize - 7 Images

Karleigh Sue -  Prize - 4 Images
*****************************************************************************************************************

It was awesome to work with the Karleigh Sue image: Adrianna's Owl. I was really inspired to create something lovely. I was showing my daughter how to blend distress ink and we created several blends. So this card started with the rainbow strip. I chose all the colors for the card based on that.

I decided to print this image on draft (economy) mode so that the outline wouldn't be dark. I plan to do this a lot more often. Although I did need to darken the eyes of the image with a copic marker, everything else was just perfect. I had so much fun coloring and creating. The Lawn Fawn die and stamp really completed the look. The circle panel is raised on the remnants of pop dots for a stable passage through the mail. Isn't she so cute!!

Supplies:
  • Karleigh Sue image: Adrianna's Owl - printed on Copic Xpress It bending card on  draft mode
  • Inkessentials pop it
  • Wink of Stella - clear pen
  • Copic markers - C5 and (see picture below)
  • Stampin' Up! - orange ribbon
  • Stampendous - Fran's mixed media paper
  • Recollections - bling and black yardstick
  • Lawn Fawn - scripty sayings stamp set, large stitched circle stackable die
  • American crafts - card base
  • Versafine black onyx ink
  • Tim Holtz distressed ink - broken china, chipped sapphire, squeezed lemonade, peacock feathers, fossilized amber

Sending smiles... friendship card featuring Elizabeth Crafts and Lawn Fawn

Peace and blessings to you all! Here's the last card my daughter helped me make in this series. FYI - I have plenty more projects planned for us this summer. I'll be sure to share. As always she colored the focal.  I love the sections of color she created with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. The butterfly is an Elizabeth Crafts outline sticker and the sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.

A quick tip for you - I stamped my sentiment last and it was a disaster! Some areas (dashed lines) didn't stamp well. I pulled out my secret weapon! Ok, ok it's not that secret... it's a Sakura Gelly Roll pen. I was able to find one in the same color (metallic purple) and drawn in the dashes.  And voila! You'd never know I initially made a mistake.

Additional supplies:
  • Memento ink
  • Elizabeth Crafts microfine glitter (warm diamond)
  • gray cardstock, sequins and epoxy dots (from my stash)
  • card base - We R Memory Keepers - inked rose

Thanks for stopping by!

More "Innies" from Elizabeth Crafts, Stampin' Up! and Lawn Fawn

I've been playing with Elizabeth Crafts outline stickers "innies" and Lawn Fawn stamps again! It's the left over design once the actual outline has been used. Sometimes there's no specific usable design and other times this gem is left... a full beautiful silhouette. The Stampin' Up! dies created a brilliant background for the scene.

The card base and the bling are from Recollections. This friendship card is sassy and cute. Lawn Fawn sentiments stamped inside and out with Memento tuxedo black ink complete the look.

Lawn Fawn, Elizabeth Crafts and Purple Daisy Designs Friend Card

True crafty story! A year ago (or more) I bought some window die cut card bases from Purple Daisy Design and didn't know what to do with them. They sat on a shelf for months on end but then BOOM it hit me. What better to see out your window than flowers? Elizabeth Crafts outline sticker flowers that is!!! And I had the perfect sentiments from Lawn Fawn to match!

First, I sketched and hand cut the curtains from a 6" Glitz patterned paper pack called color me happy. Then I skillfully decided to cut up an adhesive ribbon border from Recollections to apply as tie backs and a valance. This was a crafting moment where I wished someone was there to give me a high 5!! The perfect sentiment from Lawn Fawn - Hello Friend stamp set completed the look. I love this color combo!!

The window looks out into the garden of roses with another sentiment from the same Lawn Fawn set stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento ink. I created my own glitter cardstock using Recollections cardstock, sookwang tape, Elizabeth Crafts and warm diamond glitter. Next I mounted the cardstock on black to create a border and colored in the outline stickers with Copics.

Have you ever had a bright idea that comes together so seamlessly and makes you insanely happy?

Masculine Get Well Card

When I heard one of my online crafty friends DH was hospitalized and in need of some cheering up, I offered to send a handmade card. Get Well cards for men (or any card for men) is not my strong point. So I decided to take the pressure off and create something my style and just to have fun with it.  Here's what I came up with.

The A2 woodgrain base is from The Olde Town Market box of cards by The Paper Studio. I then layered scraps of cardstock from my stash. The script one is by Prima Marketing and the other... I don't remember!

My almost 10-year-old daughter helped me choose the gear stamps. I kept chanting... "I need something....MANLY!" In my best, deep, loud superhero voice and she kept me on track.

I tried to use Pinterest for inspiration but I have not pinned many masculine crafts yet and they all seem to have unrelated images with sayings. Why is that? I kept thinking I need something manly but not cutesy and it SO hard to do both with the right sentiment.

Normally I would use an umbrella image with this sentiment but I didn't feel it was manly enough. I'll be working on getting the manly cards right this year.

Supplies:

  • The Olde Town Market box of cards - The Paper Studio
  • Script cardstock - Prima Marketing
  • Yellow cardstock - stash (DCWV?)
  • We R Memory Keepers - Sweetheart inkers - black
  • Inside sentiment - "On the mend" The Stamps of Life
  • Gear, clock and screw stamps - "Get it in Gear" Technique Tuesday
  • External sentiment - "Umbrella4You" The Stamps of Life
  • Tim Holtz Distress ink - frayed burlap
  • Tsukineko - Versafine: Onxy Black
  • Scotch ATG
  • Ranger Multi-matte medium
  • Woodgrain sequins - studio calico
Inquiring minds want to know! How easy/hard it is for you to make manly cards. I'm also looking for tips/advice on how to keep my cards MANLY!! Hit me with your best tip/trick please? Inquiring minds want to know!

Please share my posts on social media. Thanks!

Day 10 (of 12) Days of Christmas Hop - Little Elf Pipa with Maya Angelou quote

It's day ten of the Honeybearz Designs Annual 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop!!

I will continue to post a new project daily (for a total of 12 days) along with many talented bloggers and guest designers.

What's in it for you? Well... boundless inspiration, generous craft companies/sponsors and giveaways galore!

Today I was inspired to the MAX by Kristina Werner! She created a fab Christmas card that I needed to try my hand at. Check out her version here on YouTube and here on her blog.

I chose to make two versions using a digital stamp by Mo Manning – Little Elf Pipa and background stamps from Impression Obsession and Mowenta. Unlike Kristina, I fussy cut the digi and adhered it to the card front.

This was one of those labors of love that consumed me day and night. I am glad I spent the time on it. I made many mistakes like forgetting to prep the surface, ill stamping, heating the embossing powder too long but I still love the results. These are my fav cards of the hop.

Supplies:

·       digital stamp by Mo Manning – Little Elf Pipa
·       Epson WP-4530 Inkjet Printer
·       Stampendous – Fran’s Mixed Media White Paper
·       Tim Holtz Distress Ink – stormy sky, chipped sapphire, black soot, mini ink blending tools
·       Mowenta – background stamp (Christmas)
·       Impression Obsession – Christmas Text
·       Memento Luxe ink – Danube Blue
·       Wink of Stella – clear, white, blue, green, silver
·       Copics – 0, 110, Skin: E11, 13, 15, 18 R32 Outfit: R20, 24, 29, Shadow C3
·       Xyron 510
·       Ranger Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder – clear
·       Nicole Heat tool, Versamarker
·       Stampin’ Up! Embossing Buddy
·       Flower soft - polar white and Flower soft glue
·       Adhesive holographic paper – stash
·       My Pink Stamper – Biggie Christmas
·       Clear and Simple Stamps – Limited Edition: Joy
·       Worldwin – Doublemates cardstock: Glorious Green

·       Lawn Fawn – lawn ornaments – mixed sequins

Which do you like best?????

mowenta

I am obsessed with two things... the sentiment by Clear and Simple Stamps is the words of the PHENOMENAL Maya Angelou and Memento Luxe ink – Danube Blue. You've got to get this ink! It comes in many colors and is just so rich, vibrant and yummy! It almost looks neon on these cards on top of the distress ink.
