St. Patrick's Day ATC

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

This weekend I went to Heirloom's Allentown Rubber Stamp & Paper Arts Festival. They ran an Artist Trading Card (ATC) challenge with a Luck of the Irish theme. Here's my entry.

The ATC card is from Inkessentials. I ran it through my xyron machine face down to make the front of the card sticky. I then applied 2 types of washi tape to create the grass and sky. The focal die cut, layers and shamrock can be found on the Create a Critter 2 Cricut cart. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up! and the google eyes were from my stash.

I hope you enjoyed the holiday and this quick post!

Black Diamond Deals - All That Stickles Nov Blog Hop

Welcome to the Black Diamond Deals Blog Hop brought to you by the All that Stickles design team!

The biggest shopping day of the year is just around the corner, and the ATS design team has put together some fun, sparkly shopping projects to help inspire those shopping lists! (And maybe the shine from all the glitter will help wake you up in the middle of the night to hit the stores!)

If you've come from the fabulous blog of Karen S., you're in the right place! However, if you've just come across the hop, please visit All that Stickles for the full lineup.

Stickles fans, I have an up-cycled project for your viewing pleasure today! I am a stay-at-home mom and I go through Tide pods like no tomorrow. Every time I toss one of these in the recycle bin I think to myself, I can DO something with that container!! It's got a great lid, I can reach my hand in... hmmm. Not until now, have I figured out a way to reuse this container!! With Black Friday coming up, I am making my shopping list and saving my pennies! LIGHTBULB MOMENT!! I created a bank!

I love the Car Decals Cricut cart and decided to represent our Black Diamond Deals theme using Black Diamond Stickles on this super cute shopping mom. I imagine she is at Black Friday raking in the deals!!

Here's a closeup of her! She is mounted on the back of the Tide container. I did not remove the original label, rather I covered it with Washi tape and coordinating cardstock. Black Diamond Stickles has many other colors (blue, green, gold) sprinkled in there for an amazing sparkle and shine. Paprika Stickles as an accent just makes it pop!

On the back, my true intention is revealed!! YES!! I'd rather be shopping! The phrase also is from the Cricut cart Car Decals but the shoes are from Forever young. The Black Diamond and Paprika Stickles were applied here as well. And on top, a beautiful bloom from Jolee's Boutique.

QUICK TIP - running the die cuts through the Xyron and adding Stickles while it's still on the backing allows for more precise placement. When it's dry you can easily peel up the sticker and chip off or bend back any overhang of the Stickles.

Here's a closeup but it still doesn't do justice to the sparkle and shine! But I have a real cute up-cycled bank for my Black Friday foray!!

Supplies:
  • Stickles - Black Diamond, Paprika and Burgundy
  • Recollections - whitewashed, orange, black cardstock, Washi tape
  • Jolee's Boutique - fabric flower
  • Cricut carts - Car Decals p.37 cut at 5", phrase p. 70 cut at 2", and Forever Young shadow on p. 54 cut at real dial size 2.5"

Washi Tape Sunburst LO

Here's my version of a washi tape sunburst. My idea was to cut a whole in the cardstock in order to place a second piece of cardstock behind with the washi tape stuck down in a sunburst pattern. The tape was very forgiving no matter how many times I took it off to rearrange it.

Do you use washi tape? I'd love to hear how. Fill me in??!!

Supplies:

  • DCWV The Spring Fling Stack
  • Washi tape
  • Creative Memories Cutting System large wavy circle (cut with blue blade)
  • Pressed Petals Scrap metal adhesive letters
  • Jolee's Boutique Dimensional stickers (flowers), title and pearl and bling embellishments
  • Spectrum Noir alcohol marker - BP4
  • Recollections 8 1/2 x 11" white cardstock

Birthday Wishes

This quick birthday card was made to enter the DCC227 - Black, White & Red Designer's Choice Challenge at Repeat Impressions. I have been seeing a lot of project lately made with Washi tape and fabric tape. I thought I'd give it a whirl. This card came together so quickly, I think I will include these tapes in my normal rotation! The stamps, usually used to make flip cards, begged to be colored! I've included the colors I used below. The colorless blender helped to vary the colors even in the small candles. A quick bit of inspiration for ya!

Supplies:
  • Stamps - Repeat Impressions
  • Fabric tape - striped and paisley (stash)
  • Washi tape - red polka dot and black polka dot - Recollections
  • Card base  - Joann's basics white pre-cut card
  • Copics - 0, R24, R29, R59
  • Ink stampin' up black pigment ink

Wish me luck!

Disney Toy Story layout

While we waited to meet the toy story characters there were many picture stations. My son was asleep in the stroller (right after the playhouse disney breakfast) so I got a lot of pics of just my daughter. She was quite creative with her poses which helped with the whimsy of this 2 page layout.

I decided to use the orange mosaic moments grid paper and some different ways to cut the pics other than the 2 punches I usually use. There are endless combinations. It's all based on your mind... When I ended up with blank spots I used scenery - in this case a brick wall to fill in. I love how it turned out.

I used washi tape from Queen and Company to create a background for embellishments. The circles and the chevrons seemed Disney-ish to me, LOL! The embellishments are from EK Success but bought from Escape Scrapbooking.

This is the second page of the layout with another dose of washi tape under a journaling block. My son was wheeled in the back door at the last min to take the picture. I loved the reaction of the characters to my daughter's beaded hair and my son sleeping. Imagine his surprise when I showed him the pictures. He did a double take for sure!

The professional pics blend together with the shots I took perfectly. There was only one shot that I did not get because my daughter got weary of taking pics and waiting to meet woody and buzz. But then she was as shy as could be in the pics with the characters. Go figure.... kids are not to be explained.

Disney Monsters Inc.

I'm back with another Disney scrapbook page from my personal album. I hardly ever scrapbook for myself these days so this is a joy! This moment was special because it was the first time we had gone to Disney and experienced the magic. Mike asked for a hug in the photo session which made me laugh and my daughter played photographer as the Disney photographer captured us all. Priceless! I will journal all about it in the green space to the left. My style is to journal last when I'm in a quiet moment.

This film strip from Paper Wizard seemed fitting because we were in Hollywood Studios. It came with the celebration balloons but I added a stock photo of sully that came on the Disney Photo CD to one of the openings. The background paper is from Disney's Magic Kingdom Dazzles for Scrapbooking by Hot off the Press.

I'm new to Washi tape or paper tape. I love this Disney themed tape from Queen and Company. I used it here as a border to cover up the grid marks on the paper without having to cut an additional mat. Using a 1" marvy punch I created a mosaic out of the picture of my daughter playing photographer. Adhesives of choice were repositionable xyron and my pink ATG gun.

for the love of scrapbooking... we loved Disney so much and hope this scrapbook will bring across that feeling.
