Anna Griffin Cuttlebug on Kraft Card using Elizabeth Craft "innies"

Do you know what an "innie" is? Well my dear crafter, it's what's left over when you use an Elizabeth Crafts outline sticker. I always thought about using them but never did until now. There's a trick to using the "innies" to create the reverse of the exact same image. I created the focal for my generic blank card by using the "innies" and a chalkboard sticker.

I started out with kraft cardstock by Recollections and embossed a beautiful Anna Griffin/Cuttlebug design. Then I cut out the backing paper that held the "innies" and applied Cricut transfer tape, burnished it HARD and then transferred the innies as a group over to white Recollections cardstock. After burnishing it again, I pulled off the transfer tape at a diagonal to make sure everything stayed put.

I hand cut along the edge of the design to form the focal for the card and adhered a chalkboard tag sticker from my stash (Mambi maybe?) for the sentiment. I finished off the look by adding faux stitching with a unable signo white pen.

Have your tried this technique? If not, will you give it a try?

Crafts Galore Encore Monthly Challenge - Make a Card

It's September and that means it's time to reveal this month's Crafts Galore Encore challenge!! This month please make a card and you'll have a chance to win 3 digis OR one digi set of your choice from our sponsor Beccy's Place.

Unfortunately a friend of mine experienced a loss in her family and I needed to make a bereavement card. I thought Beccy's Place digi Spring Magnolia would be a great place to start. So, I printed this digi at normal size on Neenah solar white cardstock and pulled out my Copics to make an A2 sized card.

I haven't colored in a couple of weeks so it was fun to try my hand at this magnolia. I especially enjoyed adding the cast shadows from the petals. I would never even have thought of doing that before taking the Copic certifications. The colors I used (pictured below) are pretty true based on the magnolia images I found on the Internet.

The cardstock is from Stampin' Up and the embossing folder is an Anna Griffin Cuttlebug called Climbing Rose. I thought it accented the colored image well. The stamped sentiment is from The Stamps of Life Sympathy4You set. Memento Tuxedo Black ink is my ink of choice these days.

Here's another look at the focal image which is raised on the card using Sticky Doos 1/8" thick adhesive foam squares by The Paper Studio. At the last min. I decided to grab my wink of stella clear pen to add some subtle shimmer to the magnolia petals. I love the result.

I hope you enjoyed this project and will join in on the challenge. Up to 3 entries per person please.

Good Luck!

Merry and Bright card

Today's challenge is to use snowflakes on a card or layout at The Paper Girls. Will you join me? There's still a change to pay homage to old man winter! I, for one, are ready for him to leave and for a nice warm spring to come on in! I hear good things come to those who wait....

I aimed to create a blizzard effect with the glimmer sprays, clouds and snowflakes. I sprayed and wiped the color around to create the effect. I'm new to these sprays so I'm not sure if I did it exactly right, but I'm pleased with the results. It's much more sparkly in person. The camera just doesn't do justice to the shimmer. The snowflakes also have a 3D kind of effect.

Supplies:
  • white pre-cut card base - Joann's
  • cloudy day embossing folder - Stampin' Up!
  • anna griffin cuttlebug
  • ranger black archival ink
  • stamp from imaginisce (snag 'ems)
  • Ditto glimmer spray -blue
  • Sheer shimmer spritz: sparkle - Tsukineko
  • Snowflake brads - recollections
  • ribbon - Stampin' Up!
  • crop a dile big bite
Ok, I'm off to a stamp expo with my friends! I'll share my haul and my make 'n takes when I get back, but I am really trying to buy with intention so it might not be much.

Stay tuned... when I get back I am going to have my first giveaway of some crafty goodness for national craft month!!!
