Get Inky! Stamps Challenge 18: Onward and Upward... Skyward bound!

A new inventive challenge has just begun at the Get Inky! Challenge blog entitled Onward and Upward...Skyward bound! To inspire you, I created an A2 sized card using the Get Inky! Stamps Whimsical Moon and Stars set available on Etsy.

I've always wanted to make a card using a hot air balloon so I cut one from the Cricut cart Everyday Popup Cards at 4.34 inches. I only used some of the layers and decided to color in the basket with a Copic. Perched on top of foam circles it looks so majestic. I love how it turned out!

Get Inky! Stamps proved to be the best accompaniment. In Memento ink just slightly darker than the DCWV parchment card, I stamped clouds and stars to create a sky for my hot air balloon. The sentiment is divine stamped in Bahama blue Memento Ink.

Supplies:

  • Cricut cart Everyday Popup Cards - , and layers cut at 4.34"
  • Memento ink - summer sky, Bahama blue
  • DCWV glitter cardstock, Parchment card base
  • Bazzill pink and beige cardstock
  • Recollections foam circles
  • Copic E37

Baby Shower Invite for Kara

Simple, clean, classy design. I love how this baby shower invite came out! While I wanted to create a pink with pink on pink invite, my client mom-to-be did not love the pink idea but loved fall colors. After having a tantrum (literally) I settled down and created this one-of-a-kind masterpiece. The square invite was housed in a vellum envelope to complete the look. The iconic pregnant lady is cut from Cricut Cartridge Everyday pop-up cards, grosgrain ribbon from Stampin' Up! The brown, orange (bazzill cardstock) and yellow paper (astrobright acid free ink jet printer paper) were hand cut. The gold metallic cardstock gives the pregnant beauty her healthful glow. Patterned paper from my stash worked perfectly as her designer dress & shoes.

  • Brown layer - top 6 x 5" and the bottom 6 x 4"
  • Orange layer - 11 x 5 3/4"
  • yellow layer - 6 x 11"
  • score at 5" and 7 1/2"
  • pregnant lady and layers cut at 5.25"  - Cricut Cartridge Everyday pop-up cards
Give me some luv on this one people (in other words...some comments)

Upscale Instant Scrapbook for Kara's Baby Girl

(Page 2 and 3 of 20)

I love a good 2 page layout! This base design was designed by Embellish It! During the class we put together the left hand page. I then bought the kit for the right hand page at the vendor show. I learned how to extend design elements so that the two pages look seamless even though there actually is a break between the pages. This type of layering, flowering making and design esthetic are now a part of my repetoire. It was a fast-paced fun class. I highly recommend Creating Keepsakes conferences.

I never create layouts without a purpose. So all the layouts from the classes I attended sat in my cabinet for months. Then, the opportunity to create a gift album for my friend Kara came about. She was a mom who wasn't as in to the pink baby girl themes. This type of sophisticated layout was just what the doctor ordered! So I added several embellishments, including the pregnant lady on the right, to create the 9 months layout. The pregnant lady, cut from Cricut Cartridge Everyday Pop Up, has followed Kara through her pregnancy. I used her on the congrats your preggers card, her blessingway invite and now in her instant scrapbook. These pages will highlight the 3 trimesters of pregnancy to show how the mom grew over the months. An opaque pen could be used to journal in untraditional places. This layout was perfectly received.

Stay tuned...

Mom-to-be Congrats Cards

Two great friends of mine are expecting their first child! To celebrate I created these cards and sent 2 of my favorite pregnancy books - Baby Bargains by Denise & Allan Fields and The Mocha Manual to a Fabulous Pregnancy by Kimberly Seals-Allers.

I am very happy with how these cards came out. I used Bazzill cardstock is two shades of pink for the card base. The card was cut at 6" from Cricut Cartridge Everyday Pop-up Cards on page 56. On the same page is the pregnant lady and layers cut at 5". The gold metallic used on the outside and inside of both cards is ANW Crestwood Shimmer Sand Metallic card stock. The clothing layers and the side stripe was cut from S.E.I. Poppy Paper stack. The ribbon is Wings: Vineyard Berry from Close to my Heart. I inked the pointed edges of the card with Encore Ultimate Metallic ink in Satin Rose to make it stand out from the straight edge of the card.

I have been more deliberate about finishing the inside of my cards. This time I played with embossing and debossing using the Sizzix Scrollmark folder from the Wedding Set #2 in my Cuttlebug. The picutre shown is the debossing, so the image is sunken in rather than raised. The corners were rounded with Creative Memories corner rounder. The stamped sentiment is from Stampin Up! The outside stamp is from my stash. In order for the stamping to come out right I used the Darice Rubber Stamp Pad underneath my work.
