XOXO Gap Card

As a part of the Just Us Crafty Girls craft group on Facebook I participated in a Gap Card swap for Valentine's Day. The hostess was also participating in the swap so I created two versions of the card so that she wouldn't have 2 of the same (because hostess gets one set of the swap cards regardless). There's a wealth of tutorials on this card and many others at a blog called Beccy's Place.

I'm really fond of washi tape these days! I applied 3 different patterns (polka dot, pink solid and red patterned) on the edge of the card. It helped to apply scotch ATG adhesive where the ends of the tape lay to make sure they don't curl off of the card (can't stand that!!).

Supplies:
  • DCWV card stacks: parchment, speckled, DCWV patterned paper: 12x12 Sweetheart
  • XOXO - Cricut American Alphabet cut at 1.25" real dial size
  • Washi Tape from Anna Griffin and Recollections - 3 different widths and patterns
  • Tim Holtz Distress Ink and Applicator Festive Berries
  • Zots Glue dots - bling
  • Scotch ATG

Which do you like the best? The vertical or the horizontal version? I hope you enjoyed this post and will come back soon to see more of my creations. Thanks!

Children's Valentine's Day Cards

Today is a big snow day here in PA so I sat down to make my kids' Valentine's Day cards. The inspiration started with Wink of Stella pens, the Whoo's Your Valentine stamp set from Stampin' Up!, 6x6 cardstock: Pink Lemonade from Lawn Fawn and a mat stack from Martha Stewart crafts.

This card is for my 5 year old son Aidan. He likes trains and I love the message! The card base is from Martha Stewart and the layers are from Lawn Fawn. I used an EK Success punch to create the zig-zag pattern and emboss the stitching.

This one is for my 9 year old daughter Zora. the hearts and the plaid cardstock are Martha Stewart and the dotted yellow paper is from Lawn Fawn. I love this little owl and saying!! The scalloped edge on the yellow cardstock was created with a punch from EK Success.

I love my munchkins! Both cards have the same message inside with a written love message from mommy. The stamp is from my stash and is probably from Michael's crafts.

The Wink of Stella pens are so glittery!! I love 'em. I used it to color the image and ink the edges. I colored less on the train to make it less glittery for my son.

But I went all out for my daughter's!! Glittery goodness!! Woo hoo! I hope you enjoyed my little reveal and enjoy your Valentine's Day!

Cards Galore Encore Challenge 2: Bling it Up!

Challenge 2: Bling it Up! is live at Cards Galore Encore
This month create a project and add a gem, pearl, or some glitter etc. Easy peasy right?

Our Sponsor is Scrapper's Delights and the prize is 3 of their Digis

I fell in love with Scrapper's Delights Love Fairy 2 and thought it was perfect for Valentine's Day. It is February... ya know!! It comes with and without wings, colored or not colored. It's so versatile and fun to color. Minimal shading is needed to make this image look it's best. I re-sized it (to make it bigger) in word before printing. The quality and array of digis at Scrapper's Delights is second to none!

Here's a closer view of the coloring (to see the whole card scroll down). I am new to coloring and having fun learning new techniques. To create the color for the hair I combined gray and blue. Any coloring tips are greatly appreciated. Just leave me a comment below! Thanks!

To bling it up, I added ultra fine glitter with a quickie glue pen to her outfit and some love glitter tape across the bottom of the card. A little will do ya for this challenge but feel free to add more to your project entry if you like!

Supplies:
  • Scrapper's Delights - Love Fairy 2
  • Copic Xpress It Blending card
  • Copics - 0, Hair: C1, C3, C5, C7, B45; Skin: E11, E13, E15, R81; Outfit: RV09, RV13
  • Copic Multiliner - black
  • American Crafts 5x7 pink card
  • Darice - heart embossing folder
  • The Stamps of Life - standup4sentiments
  • Quickie glue pen
  • Recollections - Glitter tape
  • Queen and Co. - chevron washi tape
  • Sparkle n Sprinkle - ultra fine transparent crystal glitter
  • Scotch ATG
Here's the whole card. I am so into washi and glitter tape these days! I can't get enough of it. It offers just the right amount of contrast and style. I also love the combo of pink, hot pink and white. The standing sentiment is from The Stamps of Life and is the perfect accompaniment for the image.

I hope you enjoyed this presentation and will consider entering the challenge this month! I can't wait to see your entires (3 max).

Cards Galore Encore Challenge Blog - Ch. 1 for 2014 Anything Goes

Hooray!!
I'm a Design Team Member for the Cards Galore Encore Challenge Blog!!!

This is our first challenge post of the year!!! It's an anything goes challenge. Although it may seem early in the U.S., it's an international DT and it's already Jan 1 in the UK where this blog was created.

This month's sponsor is Scribble and Scrap Shop. They have beautiful vintage digis and such to check out, so click the icon below and start making your wish list! Scribble and Scrap will award this month's challenge winner a £15 voucher to spend at their shop!

For this challenge, I colored Scribble and Scrap Shop's vintage rose heart digi and used it to adorned a box of candy to create a unique Valentine's gift.

I started with this box of candy blocks. It's like the size of a box of candy you get at the movie theater. I covered it with Bazzill cardstock, ribbon and the beautiful digi from Scribble and Scrap Shop.

I printed this beautiful digi on Neenah solar white cardstock and colored it using Copic markers:

Heart - 0, R20, R85, R59, RV34
Roses - RVOO, R24, R29
Leaves - YG11, YG03, YG61, YG63, YG67

To finish it off I stamped love from the Peace Joy and Love set by Lawn Fawn in Memento tuxedo black ink. But wait... it needed that extra little sparkle, so I added Frosted Lace Stickles to the highlight on the heart and used my trusty little finger to apply Crystal Stickles here and there along the blooms. All that was left to do is attach the focal element using foam tape to add dimension. Here's a closeup from an angle so you may see the glitter and shine!

I hope you enjoyed my project and will check out my fellow DT members posts as well as join in on the challenge!

KISS - Valentine's Day Layout

KISS - Keep it Simple...well you know...

Sometimes I'm in a rush, or I've lost the scrapbooking ju-ju etc and need a quick go to layout. This particular day I needed to make a Vday layout quickly. I happened upon a small kit of Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker - Sugar Cookie Collection that I got at a scrapbook convention (CKC I believe). It included double sided cardstock in rich colors and patterns as well as coordinating die cuts, stickers and alphas. Since the pics are the stars anyway in a layout, I decided to put aside my Cricut and slap this baby together.

The only thing I didn't use from the kit were the photo mats and the vellum title (You are my everything) which as DCWV. I love it came out. The layout is for a friend's baby girl who was born healthy and happy this month!! The baby's first Valentine's Day pics will pop on this layout and be super duper cute.

Have you had a KISS moment? Tell me about it... I'm all ears!
