Crafts Galore Encore May Challenge - "Hoppy Birthday" Shaped Card starring Blue Moon Creation

Can you believe it's May already?? I'm ready for warmer temps and a new Crafts Galore Encore challenge! This month it's anything goes, so get busy crafting your heart away!!

But first some announcements -----

Prizes aren't being claimed!!
The winners will be announced on our WINNERS PAGE on the last day of the month. Click the link to see if you have won. We have had a number of people fail to claim their prizes and we have redrawn and they were still not claimed!

We're looking for a new DT member!!!
If you are interested in joining our design team please put DT after your name on your entry OR email us at cardsgaloreencore@yahoo.co.uk, Thanks!

I decided to make a shaped card using two digis from Get Inky! Stamps (Stitched Heart Bunny and Backside Bunny) from our sponsor Blue Moon Creation and stamps from their Sew Sweet Cupcakes set. The generous prize is a 3 month club membership (includes one newsletter, 9 digital images, 3 go to sketches)!

The card measures 7.5" x 4.5" and can stand by itself. This is my first shaped card made with digis and I quite like how it came out! Instead of cutting out the entire top bunny, I left a small tab at the top to attach the two bunnies to make the card. Since the coloring bleeds through the cardstock and I wanted to add a sentiment, I traced the cut out backside bunny onto plain white cardstock to provide a clean area for stamping. Using a combination of BMC sentiment stamps and masking techniques I created the greeting Hoppy Birthday. Then I assembled the card and using the xyron 9" creative station I applied adhesive to the bunny with the sentiment and layered the pieces to complete the card cleanly without the tab showing. I also decided to apply adhesive to stick the ears together (after the fact) because it gave the card a more uniform look as it opens and closes.

I hope you enjoyed this post and will consider joining in on this month's challenge.

Supplies:
  • Blue Moon Creation - Stitched heart bunny digi, backside bunny digi; Sew Sweet Cupcakes stamp set: Happy, I love you and Birthday stamps
  • Neenah Solar White cardstock
  • Recollections white cardstock
  • Copics - C1, C3, C5, R81, R83, R85
  • ColorBox fluid chalk ink - Rose Coral
  • Xyron 9" Creative Station
  • Scotch ATG
My daughter Zora wanted to join in on the fun so here's her project! Please let us know what you think. I love how the bunny sparkles!

Get Inky! Farewell and Welcome Blog Hop

Welcome to the Get Inky! "Farewell and Welcome" Blog Hop!

You're in for a treat! We're hopping to usher out the 2013 design team while welcoming in the 2014 design team, some of whom are new to Get Inky! Stamps. As you may know, I am saying farewell. I was a part of the 2013 DT. It was an amazing experience, which makes it a bittersweet moment as I move on to new adventures.

Well, you should have come from Kathy's blog, but if you have come here first, be sure to start at the Get Inky! Challenge Blog for a chance to win a fun prize!

I created a fun Valentine's Day themed Inner Stair Step card using four different Get Inky! stamp sets available on Etsy. I've seen all kinds of stair step cards but this one was new to me and I love it!! I added a stamped and layered piece to the highest step to create the look you see.

My focal point is the lovable monster from Get Inky's 2013 Halloween Spooktacular set. She was so fun to color! To make her a girl, I drew on eye lashes and used a flower stem stamp (from the Love Bugs set) to create a bow for her 2 strands of hair.  I love using unusual stamps to create a desired effect. I also created my own embellishment by layering a dimensional sticker on top of a felt heart on the second step. SO much fun!! I encourage you to make your own Valentine's using Get Inky! Stamps. There a lot to work with combining all the sets. Gets your creative juices flowing!

Supplies:
  • Get Inky! Stamps - 2013 Halloween Spooktacular, Love Bugs, Geeky Fun, Whimsical Moon and Stars
  • The Paper Cut - Inner Stair Step Card (festive variety pack)
  • Copics  - R81, R83, R35, Brown and black multiliner pens
  • DCWV patterned cardstock and Sweetheart paper
  • Copic Xpress It blending card
  • Memento Ink - Tuxedo black, Rhubarb stalk, Ladybug
  • Recollections foam tape
  • Jolee's - heart, xoxo embellishment
  • Stash - red felt heart
Now for the fun part! Leave a comment on each blog (by Wednesday) along the way and you'll be entered to win:

* one of three one-year Inky Moonbeam memberships -

Today the last challenge of the year starts at the Get Inky! challenge blog. It is also my final challenge inspiration post as a design team member. It has been a great ride! Well, this time we're looking for your winter snow projects. I've decorated a darling mini gift bag for those special little Thank you gifts at Christmas time.

The 2013 Holiday set (available on Etsy) has the most darling little snowman with all the trimmings! My snowman is ready for a snowball fight as soft billowy snow falls all around him.  This clean and simple look was achieved with Copics and Flowersoft.

Supplies:

  • Get Inky! 2013 Holiday Stamp set
  • Mini white gift bag
  • Copics - 100, YR07, R29, G17
  • Uniball Signo White pen
  • Flowersoft, Flowersoft glue
  • Recollections white glittered embellishment
  • Memento black tuxedo ink

A quick tip for ya... there were some ink spots on the white bag. Quickly resolved with my opaque white pen!

Thanks for stopping by!

Inspiration for Get Inky! Challenge 19: Christmas

We've got an exciting Christmas challenge going on at the Get Inky! Challenge blog and I'm blogging to inspire you to join in on all the fun!!

I've always wanted to try out the corrugated cards. This one has a gusset for those pop-up cards and honeypop cards etc. I started by coloring some Color Me paper with 2 radiant rain daubers in a random pattern. I love how it made a third color wherever the two colors overlapped.

Using 3 Get Inky! Stamps from the 2013 Holiday set (available on Etsy), I created a banner from kraft cardstock to top the card. The stamped images were colored with Copics (and on the edges of the banner to mimic inking), adorned with Epoxy circles and popped up on foam tape. The Ho Ho Ho embellishment and the red grommet ribbon complete the look. I actually stapled the ribbon on, but wiggled the ends out of the top layer of ribbon so it wouldn't be seen. Tricks of the trade!!

Here's some more views...

Supplies:

  • Get Inky! Stamps - 2013 Holiday stamp set
  • Recollections - Kraft Corrugated Cards (5.5" x 5.5"), Ho Ho Ho embellishment, Kraft Cardstock, foam circles
  • Color Me paper with silver embossing
  • Luminarte Radiant Rain daubers - Mallard and Poppy
  • Fiskars - red epoxy embellishments
  • Copics - R29, R59, G00, G85, G17
  • Red grommet ribbon - stash
  • Memento tuxedo black ink
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this project and will consider joining in on the challenge! Merry Christmas!!

Get Inky! Stamps Challenge 18: Onward and Upward... Skyward bound!

A new inventive challenge has just begun at the Get Inky! Challenge blog entitled Onward and Upward...Skyward bound! To inspire you, I created an A2 sized card using the Get Inky! Stamps Whimsical Moon and Stars set available on Etsy.

I've always wanted to make a card using a hot air balloon so I cut one from the Cricut cart Everyday Popup Cards at 4.34 inches. I only used some of the layers and decided to color in the basket with a Copic. Perched on top of foam circles it looks so majestic. I love how it turned out!

Get Inky! Stamps proved to be the best accompaniment. In Memento ink just slightly darker than the DCWV parchment card, I stamped clouds and stars to create a sky for my hot air balloon. The sentiment is divine stamped in Bahama blue Memento Ink.

Supplies:

  • Cricut cart Everyday Popup Cards - , and layers cut at 4.34"
  • Memento ink - summer sky, Bahama blue
  • DCWV glitter cardstock, Parchment card base
  • Bazzill pink and beige cardstock
  • Recollections foam circles
  • Copic E37

Inspiration for Get Inky! Stamps Challenge 17: Thanks

Have you heard about the challenge at the Get Inky! Challenge blog? It's all about giving thanks. To inspire you to join in on the challenge, I created a Thank you card using two Get Inky! Stamp sets - Sew Sweet Cupcakes and Love Bugs (found on Etsy).

I enjoyed making the Thank you watermark with VersaMark ink and Get Inky! Stamps - instant background!! Finding unique ways to use leftover cuts is a must. Here I used a balloon as the place to stamp my sentiment. And who can resist a glittery butterfly?

Supplies:
  • Get Inky! Stamps - Sew Sweet Cupcakes and Love Bugs
  • Bazzill blue card base 100 lb cardstock
  • Personalized by You - A2 pink card layer
  • Recollections - glitter butterfly
  • Ink: VersaMark and Blue jay chalk ink
  • Martha Stewart punch around the page - ribbon loop
  • American Crafts twine
  • Cricut cut - balloon from my stash
  • Scotch ATG and Zots large and bling glue dots
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see your entry in the challenge!

Get Inky! Challenge 16: 3D Holiday

Get Inky! Stamps has debuted a new challenge today! This time we've challenged you to create a 3D Holiday project. I created a pumpkin shaped boo bag from the Cricut Cartridge Bags, Tags, Boxes and More 2 and the 2103 Halloween Spooktacular stamp set available on Etsy.

Zig clean color paint brush pens are great for highlighting your stamped images and die cuts. Vellum is a great addition to your Halloween projects. In addition to punching it, I used my finger to smear the stamped sentiment to give a more eerie feeling to the tag.

I decided to give it to my daughter's best friend and family. They had such great decorations I had a little photo shoot with this boo bag. I think it was a lot of fun - almost more than making it.

Supplies:
  • Get Inky! Stamps - 2013 Halloween Spooktacular
  • Cricut Cartridge Bags, Tags, Boxes and More 2
  • Dimensional stickers (eyes, pumpkin, candy corn) - Jolee's Boutique
  • Memento Black Tuxedo ink
  • Vellum by The Paper Studio
  • Decorative brad - Stampin' Up!

  • Shredded kraft basket filling - stash

Inspiration post: Get Inky! Challenge 15 - Buttons on a Halloween card

Have you heard???
There's a new exciting challenge over at the Get Inky! Challenge blog - Buttons on a Halloween card. It's my day to offer inspiration here and on the Get Inky Stamps blog.
Pop over and leave me some love! Pretty please?!

I am crazy for chevron so I decided to make this fun Halloween card using DCWV cardstock. I love how it shines just enough. The card base is a black American Crafts tri-fold card. To create the opening, I cut a square from black DCWV chipboard and stamped with Get Inky!'s 2013 Halloween Spooktacular set (available on Etsy) in versa mark. I then heat embossed with detailed embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle. It's called vanilla ice (Vanilla ice, ice baby.... dun dun dun dundun dun!) so I had to buy it. It's semi transparent and has glitter in it. Buttons accent the sentiment. Don't ya just LOVE the font?

Opening the card reveals Halloween patterned and plain paper from my stash, and more buttons. The Get Inky! stamp is perfect for the occasion and stamped well in Memento black tuxedo ink. I left some room for a handwritten message. I'm just in love with this style of card. I hope you enjoyed it and will consider joining in on the challenge and picking up some Get Inky! Stamps soon.

Get Inky! Stamps Challenge 14: Fall Colors

Today a new challenge is posted to the Get Inky! Challenge Blog!
Pull out those fall colors and create a project to wow us!

My project is a square card with vellum punched layers featuring a sentiment stamp from Get Inky! Stamps' Love Bugs available on Etsy. I punched all three layers of vellum at once and an oily substance was left behind. Next time I would incorporate some paper to see if the oil would still leak through.

Here's a closeup of the sentiment and some of the leaves and acorns that were left over once I punched the vellum. I love that the punch leaves behind usable confetti. I also love the jute and the rustic flatback buttons.

One last view with the changing leaves. Makes me wanna pull out my jean jacket and leggings. Enjoy the season! Can't wait to see your fall-inspired projects!

Supplies:

  • Get Inky! Stamps - Love Bugs available on Etsy
  • Lara's Crafts - Jute Twine
  • Favorite Findings - wooden flatback leaf and acorn buttons
  • Stamp on It - A2 Vellum Bright color pk 1 (text weight)
  • Tombow Vellum mono adhesive
  • EK Success - falling leaves punch
  • Zots glue dots - bling and petite
  • Memento - Tuxedo black ink
  • DCWV 5x5 card in green

Get Inky! Song Challenge 13: The Birds and the Bees

On September 16th, a new challenge started at the Get Inky! Challenge blog. The challenge is to create a craft based on the classic Jewel Akens song (Let me tell you 'bout) The Birds and the Bees. It's my day to post inspiration at the Get Inky! Stamps blog to get those creative juices flowing.

My card is a square one measuring 4.25" x 4.25" from The Paper Studio. I created the love scene to match the elements of the song by printing and cutting a pre-made scrapbook page from the Cricut Imagine Nursery Tails cart. I then embellished with Stickles, Distress Ink and Get Inky! Stamps - the bees, flower, heart, love to be exact - from the Buzzing Bees and the Love Bugs stamp sets available on Etsy.

Supplies:

  • Get Inky! Stamps - Buzzing Bees, Love Bugs
  • The Paper Studio - card base
  • Stickles - midnight blue, green
  • Bazzill basics white card stock
  • Nursery Tails Cricut Imagine Cart
  • Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Faded Jeans

I hope you create a masterpiece to enter into Challenge 13!

Get Inky! Challenge 12: Cupcakes

Guess what? There's a new challenge posted to the Get Inky! Challenge blog and it's a fun one! This time we are challenging you to make projects using cupcakes. As a part of the team that exemplifies the challenge, I decided to think out of the box a little to get your creative juices flowing.

Using the Sew Sweet Cupcakes and Joyful Jar Drinks stamp sets available on Etsy, I created a happy birthday Artist Trading Card (ATC). ATCs measure 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" - and are the smallest craft I've made to date. I wouldn't consider myself a small crafter but I am learning to work small and loving it!

Here's my ATC!

This ATC is super special because I used Get Inky! Stamps with honeycomb paper to create a 3D effect. It was my first time creating with the dynamic duo and I enjoyed it so much I'm making it a normal part of my crafty toolbox.

Here's another view to show you how tall the cupcake wrapper becomes with the honeycomb paper. To create this look, I stamped half of the bottom of the Get Inky! cupcake stamp onto the honeycomb paper in tuxedo black memento ink. I cut it out and set it aside. Then I took a second ATC and stamped the entire cupcake image in Bahama Blue and fussy cut it out and colored it with Copics.

Using a Tombo glue stick I added glue to the bottom of the honeycomb paper and lined it up with the bottom of the cupcake. Once it was stuck down I applied glue stick the top portion of the honeycomb paper and opened it like a fan and stuck it down on the other side of the stamped cupcake wrapper. Adding crystal ultrafine transparent glitter was a snap with my Quickie glue pen.

Supplies:

  • Inkessentials manila ATC (2)
  • Cuttlebug cupcake embossing folder from the Once Upon a Princess set
  • Memento Dew Drop Ink - Lilac Posies, Rich Cocoa, Bahama Blue
  • Recollections - bling brad
  • McGill 1/16" hole punch
  • Copics - B0000, B00, B02, BG05
  • Elizabeth Crafts fussy cut scissors
  • Tim Holtz tonic scissors
  • Quickie glue pen
  • Tombo glue stick
  • Zots glue dots
  • Inky Antics brown honeycomb paper

I learned a valuable lesson while making this ATC. When choosing a stamp to use honeycomb paper with, make sure the shape is symmetrical. I wanted to do the icing as well but since it wasn't. When I opened the honeycomb paper the shaped looked like a cone. I saved it to use on another craft at some point. But thought I'd pass on the tip to save you time and frustration.

So c'mon! Join in on this fun challenge! I can't WAIT to see what you come up with!

Lunchbox love note - Get Inky! Stamps

It's my day to post at the Get Inky! Stamps blog to inspire you to enter Challenge #11 Bugs!

Have you ever sent lunchbox love notes in your kids' lunchbox? I got a few last year as a test and my daughter really enjoyed them. She's been asking for more so I thought... I have plenty of scraps and Get Inky! Stamps. I can DEFINITELY make much cuter lunchbox love notes that the ones I bought on clearance at Hobby Lobby! Here's what I came up with using the Love Bugs available on Etsy.

  • base card stock from Jo Ann's 3 1/2" x 4 1/2"
  • DCWV Endless Summer cardstock
  • Recollections - Super star embellishment
  • Ribbon from my stash

Back 2 School Bingo! Kraftie Kre8ations DT

As a part of the Kraftie Kre8ations design team we were asked to create a school related project including an apple. Kids love games and I thought I'd create a school-related bingo game. This project required the most stamping I've ever done in one sitting. I actually got fatigued. Partly because I was sick. Partly because I was trying to find the correct images at the correct sizes. with some many pictures and not as many words, this would be suitable for my son's pre-K class and for my 8 year old's class as well.

Here are all the the stamp sets I used to create a single bingo card. Wiping my brow... LOL!

Supplies
  • Cardstock - Bazzill
  • Ink - TPC Studio Clearly Better, Hero Arts neon, Ranger Archival ink - black
  • Stampin' Up! - Bingo card, Itty Bitty Bits
  • Inkadinkado - hard at work inchie
  • Stamps of Life - Crayons2stamp
  • Get Inky! Stamps - Love Bugs
  • TPC Studio - Back to School
  • Recollections - school related stamps
  • Clear and Simple Stamps - Teacher

Some Serious Inspiration for the Get Inky! Challenge 10: Ribbons

It's my day to post at the Get Inky! Stamps blog! I truly got ALL in the Christmas spirit to inspire you to enter the Get Inky! Challenge 10: Ribbons. Using the 2013 Holiday set I decorated a clear acrylic gift tag from Clear Scraps that can double as an ornament!! This amazing stamp set is available at the new Etsy store.

Supplies:

  • Get Inky! Stamps 2013 Holiday set - gingerbread man, hat, merry Christmas
  • Recollections - ho ho ho embellishment
  • Red felt poinsettia buttons - stash
  • 3D Zots glue dots
  • American Crafts - merry Christmas ribbon
  • Pens - Zig Photo Signature, Sharpie Ultra Fine: Brown, Red,
  • Krylon gold paint pen
  • Tsukineko brush stix
  • Uhu twist and glue
  • Gold mesh ribbon - stash
  • Crop-a-dile big bite
  • Stazon ink - blazing red, jet black, Timber Brown, opaque white
  • K and Company - Elizabeth Brownd Designer Mat Pad - double-sided Christmas cardstock

The tag comes covered in brown stickers that have to be peeled off before you start. I began by stamping the images and sentiment on the top with Stazon ink. My pads were a little dry so I outlined the images with my fav new tools - ultra fine tip Sharpie and Zig Photo signature pen! Don't judge! LOL.

Using various brush stix, I colored the hat with the red stazon ink. The white parts are colored with Stazon opaque white ink. The gingerbread man was colored in from the back of the tag with a brown sharpie. Outlining the tag in Krylon paint pen made it look a little more fancy. Love it! The embellishments are popped up on 3D glue dots for that extra oomph. I don't want this baby to get lost in the majesty of the Christmas tree!

Last steps were to add the double-sided cardstock to the back of the tag as well as the ribbon to hang the ornament and the ornamental merry Christmas ribbon. Here's a view of the back of the tag. I love how the pattern on the back matches the pine theme from the front.

I just love how this came out!! I look forward to seeing your creations in the challenge! Thanks for stopping by! Please share this post and pop over to the Get Inky! Stamps blog and leave me some love over there too! Thanks again!

The left hand scrapbook page showcases Zora in her Pocahontas-inspired outfit from Old Navy. I got her the boots from Target for $20 (unheard of expenditure but after searching high and low and not finding anything I splurged). And guess who's in the red hoodie? I strategically placed the 3D candy corn pointing to my daughter giving me that side-eye glance. "Kids..."

Check out the Get Inky! Stamps "Got candy?" on the tab in the picture of Zora's teacher helping corral my daughter's candy stash and other students all at the same time!

The right-hand page of is interactive. I love the pic of Zora trying to eat the smarties (wrapper and all)! I had to point that out again with the 3D candy corn. And do you see her classmates dressed as the incredibles and minnie mouse?? Stinkin' cute!!

This was the perfect spot to showcase 6 more of the stamps from the set. My favorite is the candy corn cluster! I stamped it with Clear and Simple Stamps Hybrid ink in Perfect Little Black Dress and colored it with a Copic and a white opaque marker by American Crafts.

That's not all! Guess what? Did you figure out that this page is interactive???? By using the tab to flip up the bib card, you reveal.....

More pics of my Zora, stamping, stickers and journaling. It was important to line up the two tabs so that the interactive feature wasn't revealed until NOW! How ya like me now???!!!

I hope you enjoyed this walk down memory lane with me!!

Your next stop along the hop is the talented Ann's blog! Thanks for stopping by, commenting and following me. Happy Hopping!!
