DCWV and Prima Doll 4th Grade Back to School Layout

Today I completed a scrapbook layout of my daughter's first day of school. I was inspired by a Page Maps sketch, a Julie Nutting Prima Dolls stamp and the Die Cuts With A View (DCWV) Edumacation Stack.

Here's the Prima Doll Copic-colored and styled to match my daughter's American Girl outfit; which in turn matches the outfit her American Girl doll Cecile is wearing.

And here's the whole layout.

Supplies:
  • DCWV - The timeless type stack, The Edumacation Stack
  • Julie Nutting Prima Doll stamp
  • Stamps of Life - branches4flowers
  • Tim Holtz Grid Blocks
  • Copics - 0, 100, C: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9   E: 13, 15
  • Xyron sticker maker 1" and 2.5"
  • Memento ink - Tangelo, Tuxedo Black, Bahama Blue, Bamboo Leaves
  • Copic Mutliliners - 0.3 black, 0.5 red, 0.5 blue
  • Copic X-press it blending card
  • Scotch ATG
  • Sharpie extra-fine point metallic gold paint pen
  • Martha Stewart scallop dot punch
  • Reminisce Making the Grade - 4th grade and Kindergarten dimensional stickers
  • Mary Engelbreit Scrapbook Stickers by Creative Imaginations - apples, School Days
  • American Crafts Thickers - Paperback patterned fabric letters stickers
  • Scrapbook Page Maps by Becky Fleck - 12x12 layout: 4 photo sketch

The first page features 4 patterns of cardstock from DCWV Edumacation stack and a collage of stickers from Creative Imaginations and Reminisce to create a striking title.

The second scrapbook page shows my daughter alongside the Prima Doll and her American Girl doll.     To mimic the tulle flowers on her skirt, I stamped a tiny flower image from The Stamps of Life onto the Prima Doll's skirt. An extra-fine point Sharpie metallic gold paint pen was used to create the necklace.

This is my daughter's last year of elementary school so it's an important year for her. Big girl on campus so to speak... she has many clubs and activities that are now available to her. And this is the first year she can play an instrument. She has chosen the clarinet. I will definitely document all these experiences.

I hope to you enjoyed this presentation! I'd love to hear what you think of my work. Thanks so much!

Back to School Layout - Sept Guest Designer for Scrapstuffz

Hello! I'm La-Vie Borde-Perry of C'est La-Vie Designs Unlimited, LLC and I'm super excited to guest design for the Scrapstuffz "Inspired By" Challenge blog this month. I hope you'll go over there, leave me a comment and enter the challenge.

It's 'double your fun month' so I created a project based on one of the inspiration photos (see below).

Yup, it's a back to school moment! I immediately thought of scrapping my son's first day of Kindergarten from last month.

This is an all-time record! I have NEVER taken photos and scrapped them within a couple of weeks. Oooh-wee!! I feel like a million bucks!!

Besides this photo, I was inspired by a sketch over at Sketch Savvy and the only male Prima Doll by Julie Nutting and he's named Aidan. Well, guess what???? My son's name is Aidan!!! OK, so now you understand why why I HAD to scrap it! The stars aligned so well!

I even used opaque markers to draw in the design on his shirt to match my son's. And I used Copics to draw in the design on his sneakers. I only hope that Julie Nutting offers more males with different hairstyles. I would have loved some curly hair to match my son's.

Here's a close up of each page. A lot of love and affection went into this project.

I think folks are afraid to adorn boy pages. I think the exact opposite. As long as I don't add flowers and frilly stuff I think its A-OK to put that extra love into a layout for my lil man. So much so that I fussy cut those apples on the cardstock strip from DCWV.

I went old skool on making those bubble letters y'all! Do you see my 8th grade skills coming back? I've still got it!! Reminisce... reminisce...
