Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Challenge 15: Anything Goes!

It's the start of another (always) anything goes challenge at the Lil Patch of Crafty Friends challenge blog.  I hope you'll enter up to 3 entries. But guess what? You now can enter an unlimited number of other challenges! I can't wait to see what you create!

There's three sponsors for this bi-weekly challenge. They're offering some great prizes!

Faery Ink -  Prize: 3 Images

Bugaboo Stamps - Prize: 7 Images

Imagine That! Digis...by Kris - Prize: $10 Gift Certificate
************************************************************
I chose Bugaboo Stamps - Chibi Elsa to design with. Frozen has been the most epic Disney movie in recent times. I figured I could present you with a little "let it go" action - the movie's most popular song.

I've had the most trouble wrapping my head around water coloring. I have watched many videos of people enjoying the randomness and such. I have tried a few times to no avail. But I am much too regimented and don't enjoy that look.

Last week I watched a YouTube video by Jenny McGuire using a Wink of Stella clear pen instead of water on a brush to blend colored pencils. It looked easy and was more controlled. That inspired me to challenge myself to give it another try using my new set of water color pencils by Prima Marketing and Wink of Stella to color Chibi Elsa.

Wow! I really love the results. I have a way to go in terms of determining how much color and how much water etc. But I really think I have found a way to incorporate water coloring into my repertoire. The best thing I learned is to use a water brush for any skin. The shimmer from the Wink of Stella makes faces look dirty and weird.

Supplies:
  • Digital stamp - Chibi Elsa by Bugaboo Stamps
  • 5x7” card base (stash)
  • Tim Holtz - distressed water color cardstock, stormy sky distress ink
  • EZ Runner - scrapbook adhesives
  • Xyron cheetah 2 adhesive
  • layered snowflakes - La Petites by The paper Studio
  • Epoxy snowflake - Recollections
  • Fine point water brush (stash)
  • White glitter font chipboard stickers - Thickers by American crafts
  • Snowflake punch around the page - Martha Stewart
  • Wink of Stella clear brush pen
  • Snowflake patterned paper - O Christmas Tree by Recollections
  • Prima watercolor pencils - 03, 88, 89, 107, 114
  • Loew-cornell water color pencils - magenta, cerulean blue, medium blue

Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Challenge 13

Yay!! It's another anything goes challenge at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends! As a member of the Design Team it's my job to present the challenge to you and entice you to come join in during the next two weeks! So here's a sneak peek at my creation.

I hope you'll pop over to the blog and check out the new logos and blog design and all the talent over there from my fellow DT members. There's three great sponsors and prizes for the top 3 winners.
A Day for Daisies - Prize - $12 Gift Certificate

Bugaboo Stamps - Prize - 7 Images

Karleigh Sue -  Prize - 4 Images
*****************************************************************************************************************

It was awesome to work with the Karleigh Sue image: Adrianna's Owl. I was really inspired to create something lovely. I was showing my daughter how to blend distress ink and we created several blends. So this card started with the rainbow strip. I chose all the colors for the card based on that.

I decided to print this image on draft (economy) mode so that the outline wouldn't be dark. I plan to do this a lot more often. Although I did need to darken the eyes of the image with a copic marker, everything else was just perfect. I had so much fun coloring and creating. The Lawn Fawn die and stamp really completed the look. The circle panel is raised on the remnants of pop dots for a stable passage through the mail. Isn't she so cute!!

Supplies:
  • Karleigh Sue image: Adrianna's Owl - printed on Copic Xpress It bending card on  draft mode
  • Inkessentials pop it
  • Wink of Stella - clear pen
  • Copic markers - C5 and (see picture below)
  • Stampin' Up! - orange ribbon
  • Stampendous - Fran's mixed media paper
  • Recollections - bling and black yardstick
  • Lawn Fawn - scripty sayings stamp set, large stitched circle stackable die
  • American crafts - card base
  • Versafine black onyx ink
  • Tim Holtz distressed ink - broken china, chipped sapphire, squeezed lemonade, peacock feathers, fossilized amber

Elizabeth Crafts "innies" rose card

I've got two versions of the same card using Elizabeth Crafts "innies." Yes! I used what was left over after I peeled up the outline sticker and used it on another card. This is scrapping at it's best because there's nothing left over. I wanted to use some older supplies, so I pulled out 3 punches...two borders and the Stampin' Up! word window for my tiny sentiment.

Supplies:

  • Stampin' Up! word window punch
  • recollections bling
  • DCWV black adhesive cardstock
  • gold border from stash
  • Clear and Simple Stamps
  • memento
  • EK success border punch
  • Recollections
  • card base We R Memory Keepers - inked rose

***************************************************************

This destination stop is the Bahamas!!

My family went on a cruise to the Bahamas in 2013. For the opening page of the scrapbook I created this interactive scrapbook page. The major supplies include Mosaic Moments (dies and grid paper), Flip flaps from Close to My Heart, The Paper Wizard and the scrapbooking kits available on board Carnival cruise line. I was able to fit 3 layouts into one. Life changing....

To start, I attached the adhesive ends of the flip flaps to the top and the bottom of the page protector.  Then I cut 2 pages of 12x12 grid paper in half. I used the first one to showcase the striking title from Paper Wizard and a photo of the water and sky from the beach in Freeport, Bahamas. Using the Mosaic Moments dies I cut the picture into strips and adhered the strips perfectly spaced thanks to the guidelines on the grid paper.

I love when I go on vacation and there's scrapbooks and/or scrapbooking kits available. Carnival had two. I got them both and I used half of a sheet to showcase some journaling and our pre-boarding shot.

Voila! When you open the flaps there's a scrapbook page inside plus the the other side of the flip flaps. The pictures are from the same beach in Freeport using Mosaic Moments and patterned paper (inked with Memento ink) and embellishments from the Carnival kits. I also included some embellishments from my stash. I believe they are from Jolees, Recollections and Jet Setters by Reminisce.

Here's a closeup look at each portion of the layout. The kids had a ball making a sand castle. They didn't have a bucket but their shoes were good enough to transport water!

It was challenging to figure out how to make the aesthetic work with using the flip flaps. But now that I have tried it, I am excited to use them again. My books are going to be so more dynamic now! Thanks for hopping along!

Mother's Day Card featuring Clear and Simple Stamps

It's Mother's Day!! Wishing a happy and healthy day to all my mom friends around the world!!

Today I have a card for you! It's a little out of my comfort zone because of the large bold background print on the base card from Micheals. Of course it all started with the beautiful lady outline sticker from Elizabeth Crafts. I made my own glitter paper using Sookwang tape, Stampendous mixed media cardstock and warm diamond glitter. The focal is perched on a beautiful nestabilities die cut from Sizzix.

I colored the focal with black and red Copic markers and fussy cut the scene. The bow and the white section of her skirt are 3D - popped up on foam tape. The burlap ribbon from The Paper Studio seemed to break up the pattern and bring focus to the focal.

The internal sentiments are from Clear and Simple Stamps in Versafine Ink. Thanks for stopping by!

The outline sticker "innies" Mother's Day Card

I just love being able to use every last bit of my outline stickers! The focal on this card is made by lifting the leftovers (innies) from Elizabeth Crafts outline stickers with transfer tape from Provo Craft and placing it on Bazzill cardstock.

The card base is by American Crafts, the layers were created by using the Cricut cartridge wild card to cut an argyle pattern in the DCWV floral paper. It was then backed with DCWV glitter cardstock. The card front was finished off with bling by Recollections and washi tape from my stash.

Inside, the card was lined with text weight paper from The Paper Cut and the sizable message was created by applying Hot off The Press Dazzles.

Next was a superb Color Me Card Topper by Hot off the Press, fussy cut at the bottom and colored with Wink of Stella and Gelatos by Faber-Castell. Accents include a dimensional sticker from my stash, Recollections bling and stamps by Stampin' Up! in Versafine onxy black ink.

Two stamps were displayed within. I'm sure this card would brighten any mothers' day!

It's National Scrapbooking Day!! And today starts the countdown to Mother's Day!!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day! I hope you'll be entering challenges and singing up for giveaways and shopping for all those crafty goodies today!

I have started the countdown to Mother's Day today and wanted to share some cards for the occasion all week. Don't forget to stop back to see everything! Or subscribe and you won't miss a thing!

I'm crazy for Hot off the Press these days! Here's one of their color me card toppers. It is beautifully designed to take any color medium you love. I got busy with Gelatos and Wink of Stella.

After coloring I used a chipboard dimensional Mom sticker from my stash and a flower from Prima and bling/pearls from Recollections. The inside of the American Crafts card base was lined with text weight paper from The Paper Cut. I combined two sentiments - you are the greatest mom is from Clear and Simple Stamps and the other sentiment is from my stash. Both were stamped in memento tuxedo black ink.

Thanks for stopping by! Tell me how you are celebrating NSD!

Baby Girl Shaker Card

I'm back with two more shaker cards! These also were made with supplies from Die Cuts with A View (DCWV), Martha Stewart, Marvy, Darcie's, Impression Obsession, Bazzill, Marvy, Recollections and Memento with the addition of Mon Ami Gabby.

Here's a shaker card tip. Notice that the card on the left is more orderly and the one on the right has glitter all over the window. Well, I rubbed the surface of the one of the left with a new drier sheet before filling and it removed the static. Amazing!!

The shaker windows are self-adhesive, very shallow and easy to use. I stuck the adhesive edge of the shaker window to a large punched circle and covered the edge with adhesive fabric ribbon. The windows are filled with iridescent shaped glitter from Martha Stewart. It looks like tiny sequins.

I love the pink crepe paper on the card front from Mon Ami Gabby and the bling from Recollections. The sentiment on the front was created with two stamps from Inkadinkado. I did a little masking to stamp just the baby head and then the baby girl right underneath.

The internal sentiments are from Darcie's and Inkadinkado. Thanks for stopping by!
