Use a Physical or Digital Stamp - Cards Galore Encore Monthly Challenge

Welcome back to another Crafts Galore Encore monthly challenge! July's challenge: make a project using a stamp or digital stamp!

Photobucket
July's sponsor is Fred She Said Designswhich offers a wide variety of digital products with a floral flair and cute characters too - Digi's, Pre-coloured images, Papers, Sets, Fred's Flower Kits, and even digital cutting files. Have some fun with Fred!

Fun indeed, cuz if you win, you'll get a generous prize of $15 credit to spend at the Fred She Said Designs store!!!

I was given the Emma & Rosey digi which comes with or without the butterflies. The digi comes in a singular image and in a sheet of 4 to print out.  I love choices! The page included 4 images, 2 with butterflies and 2 without. That way I didn't waste any of my special card stock and had a couple of images to practice on before deciding on my coloring implements.

For the first time I colored a digi using only Wink of Stella brush markers by Zig. Well, I had to use a Copic for the skin but other than that it's Wink of Stella. I decided to go with the butterflies and love how it came out. I did a minimal amount of shading and it was very quick to complete the project that way. Freedom!!!

Here's a slanted view so you can see the unique shimmer Wink of Stella pens create. Now I am going to blow your minds.... guess what? I used a spellbinder's die to cut out the image in my cuttlebug for the first   time! AND.... I added the background (card stock was white) AFTER I colored with the Wink of Stella. "What?" you say??

YES I DID. It was a risk. I had no mask. I could've messed up all the effort I put in. But guess what? Wink of Stella dries quickly and doesn't pick up the Distress Ink. I used a dauber to get it on there and a water brush to soften it. In the process of trying to steer clear of my images I created that white halo around the image that makes it look good (by accident) score!! Then I stamped the sentiment full strength in the same Distress Ink used for the sky. This was a time saver for sure. Give it a try!

Supplies:
  • spellbinders die - fleur de lis rectangles (largest rectangle)
  • Copic X-press it blending card
  • Copic E11
  • Zig - Wink of Stella
  • Recollections 100 lb white cardstock
  • Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Stormy Sky, Mowed Lawn
  • The Stamps of Life - Crayons2Stamp "hello"
  • waterbrush
  • bone folder
  • CutterPillarPro
  • Scotch ATG adhesive

Here's the back view. I simply cut a rectangle of 100 lb Recollection card stock about an inch longer than the card (A2) scored, folded and flattened it so I could adhere it to the back of the card front. Voila! I hope you enjoyed this presentation and will join in on this month's challenge!

Get Inky! Challenge 16: 3D Holiday

Get Inky! Stamps has debuted a new challenge today! This time we've challenged you to create a 3D Holiday project. I created a pumpkin shaped boo bag from the Cricut Cartridge Bags, Tags, Boxes and More 2 and the 2103 Halloween Spooktacular stamp set available on Etsy.

Zig clean color paint brush pens are great for highlighting your stamped images and die cuts. Vellum is a great addition to your Halloween projects. In addition to punching it, I used my finger to smear the stamped sentiment to give a more eerie feeling to the tag.

I decided to give it to my daughter's best friend and family. They had such great decorations I had a little photo shoot with this boo bag. I think it was a lot of fun - almost more than making it.

Supplies:
  • Get Inky! Stamps - 2013 Halloween Spooktacular
  • Cricut Cartridge Bags, Tags, Boxes and More 2
  • Dimensional stickers (eyes, pumpkin, candy corn) - Jolee's Boutique
  • Memento Black Tuxedo ink
  • Vellum by The Paper Studio
  • Decorative brad - Stampin' Up!
  • Bling - Leeza Gibbons
  • Shredded kraft basket filling - stash
  • Zig writer pure brown
  • Zig Clean color - orange
  • Twine - Lara's Crafts
  • Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page - Cracks

Designer's Challenge: Paddington Bear Baby Shower Invite

This was one of my fav projects this year! A client ordered 38 paddington bear baby shower invites and I created this lookalike just for the special occasion using several Cricut carts, my E2 and Imagine. This invite has 20 layers. SERIOUSLY! When I am designing I cannot help going over the top. Making multiples of this kind of invite is labor intensive. Little disclaimer.... LOL.

Ok, here's the skinny...

  1. white A2 cards - JoAnn's essentials
  2. frame print/cut at 6" from Cricut Imagine Best Friends cart (Bazzill basics white)
  3. blue sky - cut a rectangle (2:3) from the stock images in the Cricut Imagine at 3"(Bazzill)
  4. teddy bear and all layers cut at 3.75" from Cricut lite cart Teddy Bear Parade - black DCWV cardstock, Bazzill brown and Recollections Kraft cardstock
  5. from Cricut lite cart Teddy Bear Parade - red hat, yellow boots and blue coat Recollections cardstock
  6. Suitcase - Cricut Cart Pack Your Bags cut at 1"- brown bazzill cardstock, layer cut from light brown DCWV adhesive cardstock. The P.B. is my handwriting with a black Zig writer.
  7. Inked the edges of the raincoat with black sweetheart inker by We R Memory Keepers
  8. I printed the inside of the invite (not shown) on a text liner from The Paper Cut and to accent the page I added a second pair of the red boots at the bottom.
  9. You're Invited! stamp - stampabilities
  10. Adhesives - zots, Xyron, ATG
I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did! Before I got to complete the job, the theme changed to Aviator Bear. Please check out the diaper cake and embellished wooden letters that I created. They are too cute as well!

Give Thanks Birthday Card

A friend ordered a birthday card for the stylish first lady of her church and this is what I came up with!

I decided to create an elegant card using one of the new Anna Griffin embossing folders and DCWV metallic cardstock - the perfect combination! I love shades of pink. This time I decided to also emboss the flap of the envelope. It was very easy to emboss the top three-quarters of the envelope flap and line it up to emboss the rest without an interruption. An unheard of situation in the past with Cuttlebug. I am really enjoying the finer details and design of the Anna Griffin folders.

The stamping came out a little light in areas (especially the word LORD) because the card is textured and my ink pad is worn. I colored in the missing spots with my Zig writer marker using both the broad and fine tips.

If you follow me, you know I do not truly finish the interior of my cards. But I had a master plan today!! Ha ha!! Once my friend described the recipient as stylish I immediately thought of Forever Young. I repeated the embossing and color scheme from the front of the card and created this stylish lady. I even had a little fashion show trying on several patterns of dresses on her before deciding on Provo Craft scrapbook paper.

It's quite a surprise when you open this card. I usually place major images like this on the outside of a card rather than the inside. I love the stamp sets I used from Stampin' up! They went together like a hand and glove! The finishing touch was adding the bling in shades of green. This is definitely a style I will create again. Love it!

Supplies:
  • American Crafts 5 x 7" pink card, white envelope
  • DCWV metallic cardstock (gold and plum)
  • Green mosaic scrapbook paper - Provo Craft
  • Cricut Cartridge Forever young p. 28
  • Ribbon from Michaels
  • Bazzill teal cardstock (at dress neckline)
  • Stamps - Stampabilities: Give Thanks; Stampin' Up: "Each one..." Trust God, "Happy Birthday:" Well Scripted
  • Cuttlebug and Anna Griffin folder: Elaborate Quatrefoil
  • Recollections bling - in shades of green
  • Xyron 1" and 2.5"
  • Creative Memories corner rounder
  • Ranger Archival ink - black
  • Zig writer - black

Please let me know how you like this creation by leaving a comment. Better yet, please share this post for me on social media. I am on vacation so I really need your help to get the word out! Thanks!!!
