2015 Crafty Goals and a RAK for you!

Every year I think hard and long about my crafty goals! Just like crafty new year's resolutions I am gung-ho about them in the beginning but get lost somewhere around March. Ha ha! Are you with me???? Has it happened to you? Well, this year is SO different. I feel the spark like never before! SO here's my crafty goals. Let me know what you think. Better yet, post your goals and you might just win a Crafty RAK (Random Act of Kindness)! The number of prizes depends on the number of responses I get and you KNOW C'est La-Vie Designs Unlimited, LLC doesn't give out any junk!

drum roll please...........(brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..... that's my drum roll)

2015 Crafty goals

  1. Catch up on my scrapbooking. ----- I am embarrassed with the number of books that are in my head and the paper packs, embellishments, etc. I hoard to do it with. No more!! I have printed over 1000 pics over the last 10 years and I am going to get those baby books done and each year of the kid's lives. And listen... I am a perfectionist. I want it to be done to the height of style and decoration but ya know what... good enough will have to be good enough. I have a million sketched pinned on Pinterest and I'm going to use them!! I will post all that I make.
  2. Sell my creations ----- I have a scrapbooking store in my house. I bought into a website 2 years ago and I must open it. I could sell on FB. I also have an awesome opportunity that will reveal soon. Point blank, I need to make things to sell and whittle down my stash which leads me to my next goal...
  3. STOP buying every new thing on the market ----- OK, so Peachy keen closing and My Pink Stamper starting to make and sell stamps again and those tantalizing CHA posts and that HSN craft day got me... but I am dedicated to using my stash from now on. I am so addicted to reading blogs, watching YouTube, getting the latest thing. I really want a MISTI but no. If it's not for a client I don't need it. But I am going to get the new Tim Holtz distress ink color in every formulation and then that's it. hehehe
  4. Keep organized - I am forever organizing. I need to find a system that works and know where all my stuff is and be able to access it at the drop of a hat. Keep the tornado out of my craft room. All the kid's papers and artwork and everything lands in my space. No more.
  5. Know that my art is ENOUGH. ---- this year I am not going to procrastinate and get all worked up over creating. This is my sweet spot. My escape. My one thing that no one can take from me. I am a SAHM and wife and the ever looming laundry, workouts, cleaning, errands, etc. can bog a sistah down. I want to walk in and create and know that it's cool. It's great. It's enough. No more anxiety on that Jack!
  6. Do more RAKs - it gives me joy to make others happy with my gifts and talents!
  7. Expand my following ---- Please follow me on social media.

  2. Ok, you got some pretty good goals. I have a problem with #2 and #3. I see something and I have to have it. The problem is I never end up using it. I have an ETSY shop (two actually) and both are empty. Maybe I should rethink some goals as well. Good Luck with yours. BL

  4. My goals are to Use up my scraps(or make a good dent in it), craft more often(get off facebook and craft!), Use what I have and STOP buying just because it's on sale(this gets complicated when I keep receiving gift cards to Hobby Lobby - not complaining but makes it hard to NOT buy), and stop hoarding my cards and give them away to someone who will appreciate them(My plan is to bless some residents at a local nursing home).

    1. Oh Candy! That idea of blessing folks with your cards is awesome. there's many orgs that do this for hospitalized children, military, etc. pay it forward for sure!

  5. My goals include scrapbooking more and not getting so far behind again, organizing some of my supplies so I can easily find them, and remembering that not every page has to be "perfect". I want to be able to get alot done and still be happy with the end result. :)

  6. I love that you wrote down your goals and I love lists! I am planning on doing the same thing this weekend...sit down and map out what I'd like to accomplish this year. I too am so far behind on my scrapbooking...and not only do I have several yearly albums to catch up on but I also have several special albums in mind and don't know where in the world I will find the time to get it all done. I am a multi-crafter so that doesn't help any...I love to crochet, cross stitch and do puzzles and I want to keep up with everything! Add to that some 'around the house' projects that I want to get done as well (after a year plus in my apartment I am finally decorating my bedroom!). Needless to say it is time to make a list and impose some time frames for getting things done. Good luck to all of us and here's to a crafty year!

  9. Oh wow, you have quite the list of goals! My only crafty goal this year is to just have fun with it. Last year, I found myself trying to create projects that felt more like a chore. I love to just be creative so that is what its about for me this year.

  12. Hey La-Vie,

Thanks for calling us out, lol. Sometimes you must put it in words for it to come to life. Anyway here are my goals, no particular order. All are important to me. Thanks for doing this hun.

    1) Get caught up on my albums. Preserving my family's heritage is so important to me. The joy on my children's faces when they look back on the memories warms my heart.

2). Get organized. Really organized. Yesterday I found two layouts I did and had completely forgotten about them. I spend too much time looking for supplies when I could be crafting. So I'm going on the scrapbook/craft diet. Google it. Very good advise.

3). Use what I have and only shop for adhesives. Yep I am going to accomplish this feat this year and beyond. I've already gotten over the ooh thats so pretty I can't leave it at the store phase. All the pretty bling, and bright flowers no longer fascinate me. I'm ok with leaving it at the store. Sales come and go.

4). Stop taking so many pictures. Yes you read that right. I snap, snap, snap that I don't enjoy the moments. So I am only going to take my camera to a few important events, snap a couple of picture worthy photos, print them right away and crop them.

5). Visit my fb groups less often. Those groups are really nice and I've made some great friends, but they do distract me from doing my crafts.

6). Host more crops. Getting together for crafting and girlfriend time is what makes this hobby fun. We have a clubhouse in our neighborhood so I need to plan more crops.

7). Attend more workshops and classes so I can learn new techniques. Sometimes I feel like my pages all look the same. So I want to take my craft to a new level.

8). Sell some of my hand crafted creations. Yes I only make gifts for friends but maybe I could expand that to a small group of people willing to pay me for them.

9). Downsize. I have so much paper that I may never run out. At least I have stopped buying it and now I need to use it or lose it.

10). Enjoy my hobby. It is so easy to get "caught up" in the drama of this craft that we forget to enjoy it. Well that is my plan. Enjoy the craft.

    1. Hey Cropalcoholic! Your goals are extensive and specific. TFS. #4 resonated. I take 1000s of pics - for what??? And #10 enjoyment. It's not a chore but certain situations can make it feel that way. Good luck in all you do.

  13. Oh I forgot that I wanted to do more challenges. Lyne the 50 day layouts sounds nice. Let me look into that.

  15. To revamp my blog and add my creative resume to the blog which I did accomplish. :-) Like you use my stash of craft supplies instead of going out and buying the latest and greatest. Finish my craft room/studio and get everything out of boxes and organized. I have a shop on ArtFire but really need to get more involved and start promoting. Learn how to use the Wacom and design and last but not least is do more challenges. :-)

  16. TFS, La-Vie! My sb'g goals for 2015: (1) finish DD15's 2nd baby album before her 16th b'day in mid-June; (2) catch Janice (church friend who moved away)'s album up to the church album by mid-Mar; (3) bring church album up-to-date by Aug 14th; (4) add missing pics to DS13's baby album by his b'day in late May; and (5) finish ~2 more yrs in digi album. I also set a page-count goal of 78 for the yr, which includes all the above but the digi. I also hope to organize more pics and memorabilia, but I dare not set any more goals -- the ones above are more than I usually get done in a yr as it is!
