Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - Challenge 15: Anything Goes!

It's the start of another (always) anything goes challenge at the Lil Patch of Crafty Friends challenge blog.  I hope you'll enter up to 3 entries. But guess what? You now can enter an unlimited number of other challenges! I can't wait to see what you create!

There's three sponsors for this bi-weekly challenge. They're offering some great prizes!

Faery Ink -  Prize: 3 Images

Bugaboo Stamps - Prize: 7 Images

Imagine That! Digis...by Kris - Prize: $10 Gift Certificate
************************************************************
I chose Bugaboo Stamps - Chibi Elsa to design with. Frozen has been the most epic Disney movie in recent times. I figured I could present you with a little "let it go" action - the movie's most popular song.

I've had the most trouble wrapping my head around water coloring. I have watched many videos of people enjoying the randomness and such. I have tried a few times to no avail. But I am much too regimented and don't enjoy that look.

Last week I watched a YouTube video by Jenny McGuire using a Wink of Stella clear pen instead of water on a brush to blend colored pencils. It looked easy and was more controlled. That inspired me to challenge myself to give it another try using my new set of water color pencils by Prima Marketing and Wink of Stella to color Chibi Elsa.

Wow! I really love the results. I have a way to go in terms of determining how much color and how much water etc. But I really think I have found a way to incorporate water coloring into my repertoire. The best thing I learned is to use a water brush for any skin. The shimmer from the Wink of Stella makes faces look dirty and weird.

Supplies:
  • Digital stamp - Chibi Elsa by Bugaboo Stamps
  • 5x7” card base (stash)
  • Tim Holtz - distressed water color cardstock, stormy sky distress ink
  • EZ Runner - scrapbook adhesives
  • Xyron cheetah 2 adhesive
  • layered snowflakes - La Petites by The paper Studio
  • Epoxy snowflake - Recollections
  • Fine point water brush (stash)
  • White glitter font chipboard stickers - Thickers by American crafts
  • Snowflake punch around the page - Martha Stewart
  • Wink of Stella clear brush pen
  • Snowflake patterned paper - O Christmas Tree by Recollections
  • Prima watercolor pencils - 03, 88, 89, 107, 114
  • Loew-cornell water color pencils - magenta, cerulean blue, medium blue

Last two pages for my Disney album - featuring Paper Wizard

I am DONE!!! Whoop whoop. The sense of accomplishment is amazing! Well, I guess it's time to go see the mouse again!! Shhhh! The kids don't know!! I'll be creating a new album next year using more amazing Paper Wizard titles and the Simple Stories Say Cheese II collection!!

The last two pages feature Mosaic Moments, Say Cheese (paper, stickers, brads and a snap card) and the All moused out title. I wanted to highlight our rides on Space Mountain and show my dear son who was 2 at the time and all his pics were from the stroller.

The last page came together so quickly because the background page was already styled. I simple added the title, my son a sticker and the snap pocket (with a license from the driving ride stuck to it) to hold all of the maps and activities that were going on at that time. The best part... the cardstock is double sided, so even though there's nothing on the back of this last page it's cute anyway! I might write a letter for the last page with some thoughts about the trip. But if I don't it's still cool.

Thanks for stopping by!

Disney's Princess Tiana Layout featuring CTMH Flip flaps

I've got lots of pics for you today featuring Disney's Princess Tiana, whom we met at Magic Kingdom in 2011. This moment was like magic for me even more than it was for my daughter. It was a dream come true to have an African-American princess to call my very own!

With few materials I created a dynamic layout I will treasure for a lifetime! The grid paper is from Mosaic Moments, square punch from Marvy, The Princess Tiana paper, Title and stickers are by EK Success and the extra added drama was created with Close To My Heart (CTMH) Flip flaps.

The photos were taken by Disney photographers and I applied frames etc. on the Disney site.

I placed the chipboard title on the oustide of the flip flap so there would be no pulling and bunching.

Here's the layout altogether with the flip flap closed and then with it open to show my journaling. The Tiana's Garden Glen sign was a picture I took and printed 4x6. I then cut it out and used it to embellish my journaling.

Thanks for stopping by!

Disney's The Little Mermaid Scrapbook Layout

Every now and again I love using a kit when my mojo is low. This Disney's The Little Mermaid layout started as a Mosaic Moments kit with all of the pre-cut squares, ribbon and cornerstones. Since it was a sea theme, I thought it would be great for the picture of my family, Ariel and Eric. This was my daughter's favorite princess at the time. It was so magical for her to meet her and Eric. They were so attentive and in character. It was truly amazing!

In order to complete the layout I added some die cuts using my Cricut Explore and a Disney cartridge. Disney characters have SO many LAYERS!! I'm happy with how Ariel came out, the title and the name shell. To add a little sparkle and shine I added star gem embellishments by Prima.

Here's the layout altogether. Thanks for stopping by!

Princess Jazmine and Aladdin layout using EK Success, Simple Stories and Mosaic Moments

Jasmine is one of my daughter's favorite princesses! She came bearing messages from Ariel and Eric. It was so cute to see them fraternizing! Aladdin was very cool too! This Mosaic Moments layout was a slam dunk using their grid paper and dies. The patterned paper and embellishments are from EK Success and the snap cards are from the Simple Stories Say Cheese collection.

We waited a while to get our homemade autograph books signed! It was worth the wait for sure! I've started putting stickers on pictures... It took me a long time to be comfortable with it but it actually helps the overall motif. I added a crown to my daughter's head and some words to another couple pics.

Here's the layout altogether. Feel free to use the links below to check out the rest of this album. I'm still creating a few more layouts before I am done. So stay tuned...

Thanks for stopping by! Crafty blessings!

Magic Kingdom, Mosaic Moments and Simple Stories Say Cheese

I've got a non-matching but related Disney layout for you today. On the left is a pic of me and my daughter and the beautiful Cinderella Castle in magic Kingdom at night. The right-hand page is our chance meeting with Mary Poppins on main street.

Mosaic Moments gird paper, Simple Stories say cheese collection and Queen and Co. felt adhesive "main street USA" border.

I tied in these two pages with the colors and patterns of the collection. The stickers, snap cards, border stickers etc. all coordinate. It makes scrapbooking easy!

Here's the pages together. These are the only two single pages in my album but I love 'em.

Have Yourself A Very Mousy Christmas! Disney, Mosaic Moments, Simple Stories

I'm back with another 2 page layout using Mosaic Moments dies and grid cardstock. Have you heard that my absolute favorite pattern right now is chevron??? I had to make a Disney layout using this pattern from the 6x6 pad of patterned cardstock Say Cheese by Simple Stories. Besides the Christmas parade pics the star of the show is the beautiful title by Paper Wizard. The picture squares were cut from a Marvy punch.

All the cardstock is from Say Cheese. I created the middle element from the 12x12 cardstock page with different pattern strips on it. In addition I added the chevron border sticker under the text. The more chevron the better! The photos are matted on newsprint style cardstock from the collection.

And finally, the black embellishments are from Queen and Company. They are flocked domes like I have never seem before. I thought they made a difference in the overall look of the layout. Here's one last look!
