Heartfelt Creations - Bella Rose Leaves Canvas
I love a great find! I was milling around TJ Max and found a five pack of canvases on a random clearance table. I figured hey, this will come in handy some day! Well guess what? Today is the day! I'm dipping my toe into mixed media. I needed a daily reminder for my weight loss journey so I chose an appropriate quote and my fav stamp (that I own) by Heartfelt Creations - Bella Rose Leaves.
To achieve this look, I stamped the image in the upper left hand corner with Stazon ink. Then I painted the entire canvas with gesso. When it dried there was a light outline of the stamp showing through the gesso. I used those guidelines to trace the stamped image with Stickles. After about a couple of hours drying time, I used brush stix (chisel and round tips) to add color to the leaves with Tim Holtz distress inks.
I then added the quote in my own handwriting and faux stitching around the edges using a Copic marker. Next, I sponged on distress inks to blend a two-color background. To activate the ink and leave a subtle spotted background, I sprayed on some sheer shimmer spritz by Imagine Crafts. The final touch was some bling of course!
Supplies:
- Flat canvas 7 1/5 x 5 3/4"
- Heartfelt Creations - Bella Rose Leaves
- Gesso
- Stazon Ink - Forest Green
- Copic Marker - 100 Black
- Stickles - Pine
- Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Forest Moss, Evergreen Bough, Salty Ocean, Broken China, Worn Lipstick
- Recollections - clear bling
- Imagine Crafts (Tsukineko) - Psst! Sheer Shimmer Spritz: Sparkle, Brush Stix
- Nicole Heat tool
Here's a close up of the Heartfelt Creations - Bella Rose Leaves. I think it is a great focal point for my daily reminder. This stamp is versatile. It can be used alone or with the Bella Rose stamp set and/or the Bella Rose Die set.
Thanks for taking a peek at my latest project. I'd love to hear your opinions on my work and Heartfelt Creations.

Tiny Hello Cards
When I give prizes I like to include a handmade card with a handwritten note inside. I just think it gives it a nice touch. For my last two giveaways I created these tiny cards. The tulip card is like 4 x 3" and the other is about 2.5 x 3" big. I'm into coloring with Copics lately I figured I'd pick some cute stamps I always wanted to color and get to it!
Both stamps are from Recollection and the sentiment is from The Stamps of Life. Here's the colors I used...
I hope you liked this quick post and I hope my winners ... both named Linda enjoy them too!

"Blinged" Messenger Bag
I added Glamour Glitz iron-on crystals using my Glitz 'n Go by Kandi tool. It works with batteries and it only takes several seconds for the adhesive to melt and fuse to the fabric.
I had a package of medium and one of the small size. I really like the look of the embroidery and the bling. My daughter loves it and if anyone else gets the same bag - there'll be no denying which one is hers!
Have you ever kicked something up a notch like I did with bling or in some other way? I'd love to hear about it. Leave me a comment and fill me in chile!
Thanks for stopping by!

Elephants are a fav circus animal for my kids! I've always wanted to send them to school with those cute and encouraging lunchbox notes. With school starting in a week I decided to give it a try. I also wanted to try water coloring since so many crafters have been doing it for a while. Both notes are flat, double-sided notes made from one sheet of watercolor paper. I started out on the smooth side and left the textured side for the sentiment and/or hand written note.
I didn't want these notes to be perfect or too fancy, just a quick show of affection for my kiddos. I started by cutting the watercolor paper to approximately the size of ATC cards, stamping in memento tuxedo black ink and wetting the surface with a water brush. I colored directly on the wet watercolor paper with Tim Holtz distress markers and blended with the water brush. On the back I scribbled with markers on the wet surface and blended for a tie die type of background.
For the pink elephant I wanted a lighter color so I wet the surface but unscrewed the water reservoir so no more water could be released. I scrubbed with the markers on my Tim Holtz grid blocks and picked up the color with the water brush. I think I like this method better because it gave me more control. I opted to leave the back more open for a hand written sentiment matching what my child might be experiencing at the time.

Anything goes! August Challenge - Crafts Galore Encore
You're not going to want to miss this!! It's an anything goes challenge at Crafts Galore Encore! Create a project any way you like and post up to 3 of your creations this month to win $12 gift certificate to Di's Digi Store, our August sponsor.
I recently became Copic certified on standard and intermediate levels so I put my new skills to work on this cute journal for my 9 year old daughter. School starts soon and I will give this to her on her first day of 4th grade.
I am obsessed with the rag doll stamps and dies by Clear and Simple Stamps! Meet Chloe. I am an avid collector of these stamps but until I took the certifications, I was not comfortable creating scenes and coloring them. Well, I put pen to paper in this project in a big way! Here's how it all started...
I cut a panel of Neenah solar white approx. 6.5" x 4.25" and used 9 stamps, Memento inks and a mask of Chloe (made from an 'all over sticky' post it note) to create this scene. Only the cloud stamps is by Recollections. All others are by Clear and Simple Stamps.
After coloring the scene I decided to use the panel to decorate a soft-cover journal from the dollar store. I found one the perfect size and framed it with American Crafts glitter ribbon to give the panel a matted look. To unify my project, I stamped Chloe inside the back cover. My daughter might choose to color her or leave her uncolored. We'll see...
The journal was striped and designed on the front and back. I left the back cover design there. Here's some close ups of Chole and the journal. My stamping was a little sparse on her eyes so I added some Uniball signo white pen to simulate eyeballs. Due to the masking, I also had to draw in a bit here and there (with .3 Copic Multiliner) for the swing surrounding Chloe. I rather like how it came out. Don't you????
