Christmas in July - Swirly Cross
Cricut Cartridge New Testament has many ornate crosses to cut. This one caught my eye. In keeping with Christmas colors I chose to use silver, gold, red and beige. The cardstock is from my stash and the beige is from Bazzill. In order to make the cross itself stand out, I decided to heat emboss with gold embossing powder from Stampin Up! and versamark. Bling always makes things more festive, so I added a clear crystal to the middle of the cross.

Christmas in July - Angel card
I love a shaped card! This angel card and layer was cut at 5" from Cricut Cartridge Inspired Heart. I used my Gypsy to weld two of the round layers to create the card base out of Bazzill cardstock. To give the card base a little dimension, I ran the front through the cuttlebug using the birds and swirls embossing folder. The purple metallic cardstock layer with the angel is cut from DCWV Metallic Stack.

Christmas in July - Sunburst Cross
My goal with this Christmas in July post was to create a simple but impactful cross card. This cross and its layer were cut at 6" from Cricut Cartridge New Testament. The gold layer is cut from American Crafts foil cardstock and the dark silver layers were cut from DCWV. The white card base is Bazzill.
Crafter's tip - Use Krylon 18KT Gold Leafing Pen to fill in damaged areas of gold foil cardstock.
I got impatient with all the rays in the cut and was rushing to get it off the mat. Before you know it, I had ripped off the top layer of the foil in quite a few spots. Unwilling to start over, I thought about how to fix it. I can't even tell where the trauma happened to this card! LOL!

Christmas in July - Baby Jesus
Here's another Christmas in July installment. This card adorned with Baby Jesus in his cradle has many beautiful layers. The image was cut from Cricut Cartridge New Testament at 5.5" using my Cricut E2 machine. Heavy weight metallic cardstock from American Crafts and my stash was used on the body of Jesus and the light behind his head. I used a mix of cardstock to create the other layers - Bazzill and DCWV. Inside the card is a computer printed sentiment on metallic text weight paper from The Paper Cut.
Check back in a few days for more Christmas in July!

3 Wisemen - Christmas in July
This is one of my favorite cards from the batch of lost in the mail Christmas cards. The silhouette of the 3 wisemen was cut at 5" from DCWV glitter cardstock and Cricut Lite cartridge Inspired Heart. I love DCWV glitter cardstock because of its brilliant shimmer with no mess. The glitter is embedded in the paper rather than on top and will not make your workspace messy.
The gold heavy cardstock is from my stash. It is 8 1/2 x 11" folded in half. I dry embossed it with the D'vine Swirl cuttlebug folder just on the front to symbolize the desert winds and sand swirling around them during their journey to see baby Jesus. The inside message is personalized for the recipient and printed on text weight metallic paper from The Paper Cut.
Hope you were inspired today!

Christmas in July
For the next few posts I'm going to post some very special cards I made for Christmas for my big sister that unfortunately were lost in the mail. I was heart broken because I worked painstakingly hard to make sure these cards were my best work so that she could spread the love of Christ to her friends and loved ones. Alas, it was not meant to be...
This card was created using Cricut Cartridge New Testament. I actually bought this cart in order to make something for my big sister before she even asked. That's also why it was so hard to take when they were lost.
The square card base is Bazzill and the layers are my Bazill, American Crafts etc. Mary and Jesus were cut at 5.5" which is rather large but I wanted that effect for this card. The layer was dry embossed with swiss dots cuttlebug folder using my cuttlebug. Although it took several layers to create the scene they were not hard to put together. My favorite part is the metallic gold behind Jesus' head.
The inside sentiment (peeking out in the pic below) was printed on text weight metallic paper from The Paper Cut. I love love love it! The paper is perfect for fitting inside cards. In order to print on it, I used repositionable herma dotto adhesive to attach it to a regular piece of printer paper and run it through my ink jet. However, now I have a better printer and can set the paper size use a special tray.
Looking forward to showing you more of the lost cards...stay tuned.
